Mystery Skulls X The Living Tombstone Crossover Alternate Universe

————————————————————————————————                                         The Basic Synopsis ———————————————————————————————— After Shinomori retreats back underground after a standstill with Lewis and Mystery, the Mystery Skulls gang spot the possessed green arm scurrying away to an underground cave in the dessert near Tempo which was rumored to have a old mining site where there is an elevator that is thought to be a gateway to the afterlife since people have heard faint music. They find the elevator and end up in what appears to be a cabaret where they meet a group of what appears to be cyborgs or robots with stylized skulls on their faces calling themselves The Living Tombstone. Something or someone is causing both of their universes to bleed in with each other to where a few canon versions of the characters of each universe appears. It is unknown weather if it’s a cataclysmic event or something else entirely. Both Lewis and zero_one have the ability Linked Souls were they are synchronized with each other and make mashups of their songs by mixing up vocals and switching instrumentals making something new and exciting. ————————————————————————————————                         Group Dynamics (Main Characters) ———————————————————————————————— Lewis & zero_one They get along pretty well, but it later becomes a bromance. Lewis seems to sense the human presence within zero_one and gains an empathetic link with them as soon as he entered TLT’s universe. Lewis and zero_one both had visions of their transformation into what they are. Both of them want to know what it all means. Little do they know they have more in common than both of them think, at least at first. ———————————————————————————————— Arthur & Rust Rust found Arthur annoying at first but gradually gains some respect for him once he repairs is star speeder despite coming from the distant future. And Arthur reminds Rust in a lot of ways to zero_one and often cracks some jokes that Arthur is a parallel universe version to the human that zero_one is merged with. Arthur was a tad intimidated at first but likes getting into discussions about machines and general mechanics often. ———————————————————————————————— Vivi, Tesla, & Armstrong Armstrong is rather polite towards Vivi and calls her “Miss Yukino” in a formal almost mentor like manner. While Tesla tends to affectionately call her “Liebchen” (much to Lewis’ annoyance) and has gone so far as to lend is bassmenship to Mystery Skulls if an opportunity arrives. Vivi finds both of them pretty cool and nice to be around, Armstrong in particular reminds her a lot of Lance. ———————————————————————————————— Mystery & Doc They are rather chill with each other. Doc was surprised and impressed that a dog could even play the drums at all. But once he talked Doc’s only reply was “hah.. That’s not your real form isn’t it?” And Mystery finds her and the other tomesonas to be particularly interesting since they are a lot like Lewis but are made through synthetic or non-supernatural means. ———————————————————————————————— Arthur & zero_one Both of them enjoy each other’s company, almost like brothers. Both have confided with each other about their traumas. Rust has gone so far as to say albeit jokingly that Arthur is a parallel version of zero_one’s human component given their personalities and bad luck. ———————————————————————————————— Lewis & Rust They have a bitter rivalry on who’s the best vocalist ; overtime it becomes an unspoken respect for one another. ———————————————————————————————— Arthur & Armstrong Armstrong acts more like a father to Arthur and Arthur in kind looks at Armstrong like his uncle Lance. Both have shared the stories about their arms (even though Arthur only told Armstrong about losing his arm in an accident). ———————————————————————————————— Lewis & Doc Lewis finds her cool to be around and they where both born in Louisiana and have pride in their shared Cajun heritage. Doc is curious on how  Lewis’s locket can contain the deadbeats and if they are pieces of his soul. ————————————————————————————————                       Dynamics with Minor Characters ———————————————————————————————— Lewis & Skulldude* (from Drunk *: TLT Canon Version) Lewis has this oddly familiar feeling similar to that of zero_one but doesn’t have that empathic link. Also he considers him just as annoyingly neurotic as Arthur if not more so but tolerates it nonetheless. Skulldude* was at first surprised that Lewis was a ghost but seems oddly unfazed. Lewis couldn’t tell if he was just that drunk or he was telling the truth. One time after a particularly bad bender, Skulldude* figuratively and literally spilled his guts about his problems while talking to Lewis. Suffice it to say that day was painfully awkward. ———————————————————————————————— Vivi & Haru (from Sunburn) They clicked very shortly, they both geek out over yokai and cryptids. Haru reminds Vivi a lot of her co-worker Cloe. Also they are into anime and cosplay much to dismay of Mystery and every one else. ———————————————————————————————— Mystery & Hina (from Sunburn) Hina seems unfazed by Mystery’s kitsune form then most characters, she thinks it’s cool that a kitsune has a black and red coat coloring. As for Mystery, she reminds him (albeit to an uncomfortable degree) of Mushi, not so much in looks or demeanor but in her strong unflinching spirit. ————————————————————————————————      Major Differences from the Canon Universes ———————————————————————————————— Mystery Skulls ———————————————————————————————— * Before Lewis could get to the crashed van, he spots Shinomori trying to kill Mystery and Vivi ; he was pissed off enough to put aside his revenge just for a moment to nip an ugly tree lady in the bud. She reappears later still looking not only for Mystery but for Lewis and another soul in the Living Tombstone’s universe that has caught her interest. * Arthur, Vivi, & even Mystery can take on temporary ghost forms similar to Lewis but with different elemental affinities and themes to them.    * Arthur: electricity (Steampunk Frankenstein’s monster)    * Vivi: Ice (a Yukiona with Modern Winter Clothes)    * Mystery: darkness and light (a classical kitsune) * They also can summon deadbeats as well but they are not as numerous as Lewis’.  Tesla thinks it might be because there are certain limitations on what they could do while they are in TLT’s universe. It is possible that both their universes will begin to collapse if they push their ghost forms too far. *  But for whatever reason that Tesla can’t explain and is fascinated by is that Lewis and zero_one can synchronize with each other (what he coins as the Linked Souls) without any ill effects (that he knows of). * Lewis gain’s tomesona like characteristics like his human face being more visible under his floating skull and his pompadour turning into a helmet. ———————————————————————————————— The Living Tombstone ———————————————————————————————— * SkullDude (Or Drunk Guy) from the Drunk music video is the one bonded to zero_one in this crossover AU because it would be a little more convenient than pulling a random OC out of nowhere. Also I thought it be an interesting juxtaposition between the bulky, stoic but hot headed ghost Lewis and the scrawny, somewhat sanguine, but sorta neurotic zero_one!Skulldude (though he’s a tad more mellowed out then his canon counterpart and has amnesia but can somehow recognize his prime self much to his dismay). That and I think it’s a missed opportunity that he’s barely a minor character in the TLT’s canon lore of zero_one. But canon!Skulldude does some appearances every now and again. (Mostly for comic relief)    * A little tidbit for reference, apparently in the canon lore Skulldude is a separate character from the person who sings “drunk” who DOES become zero_one. So he’s a composite character in this Crossover AU. * The tomesonas have the ability to somewhat show they’re human forms. They generally have pale unnatural skin complexion and have glowing blood veins correspondent to their color. But the most gruesome parts are covered by clothing sans Armstrong. With zero_one however is unknown but it is assumed by Tesla that it was worse than the process the others went through when they bonded with their tombsonas. He can however reveal his face revealing a similar looking face mask to the canon version but it’s orange and is not a fake replica that was almost permanently glued onto his face as part of a cruel joke while he was hungover by his roommate who he believed was his long time friend in both timelines. * For zero_one, his linked soul form gives him ghost like characteristics like visible ribs outside his suit and a single glowing pupil in his left eye.

People are chosen to become the next god and they need to battle royale themselves.

In that universe, things had always occurred periodically. There have been ages of peace, ages filled with war, ages filled with progress, and ages filled with regressions.

This is because, covertly, the position of god changes in each period of time.

 7 people are chosen to represent possible oncoming eras. (I haven’t yet worked out all the details and I forgot what one of em was lol)

1. Peace, 2. War, 3. Technological Advances, 4. Just leaves the world as is, 5. The one I cant recall…, 6. Destroying the world (regression), 7. Random

Each have a power that god is given, and the candidate that kills another candidate gets their power as well.

Here’s the list of powers:

1.Mind Suggestion, 2. Enhanced physical abilities, 3. Telekinesis, 4. Regeneration, 5. Shape-shifting, and 7. Invisibility

 The story centers on a girl who’s a complete fangirl (like the kind that goes overboard and is considered annoying. Main inspiration for her tbh is like Pom from Pom gets Wifi lol) Since the story is in her perspective, the whole situation is painted as more lighthearted and fun than it actually is.

 Delving deeper into the beginning of the story:

 The first person to die is the one that would have brought peace to the world. She’s a heavily depressed girl who had been given the short end of the stick every time. The tragedy of her being first is that she always motivated herself that she would rise from this bad situation and be a good person, and do good. With this opportunity, she could have been a good god and alleviated a lot of pain. But the week prior to this had been the roughest, and once she suddenly got the power that let her read minds, she couldn’t believe in her cause anymore, and decided to take her life.

 The main girl was coincidentally spying on her when it happened. As soon as the protagonist figured she had a power, and was told about the competition, she resolved herself to just being an onlooker. She gains no better pleasure than seeing big events unfold, stanning people, and making her own ships; she had no interest in being god, only in making it as far as she could to see the story unfold.

 She was practicing her power at school, using it to spy on her classmates, when she noticed the Peace girl looking haggard. They both go to the same school. The protagonist on a whim decides to follow her; the protagonist had always wondered what the sorry-looking girl’s story was, but never talked to her directly because she was always busy with other people and their lives. She follows her to the roof, her power of invisibility also blocking her thoughts from being read by Peace girl, and witnesses her jumping off. At the last second, the protagonist takes off her invisibility to reach out and grab the girl, but doesn’t move fast enough. Peace girl also notices her thoughts without the invisibility cloak too late; they’re screaming “WHAT?! THIS CAN’T BE THE END OF HER!” The deed is done. Peace girl dies quickly on impact, and the technicality of a god candidate taking their own life makes her power go to the candidate nearest; our protagonist.

 With this new power injecting itself into her, she passes out from the pain, and comes to in a hospital. Sitting up, she realizes first that she’s hearing way too many voices at once. The second thing she notices is Peace girl calling out her name. Looking to the side, she finds her floating, looking concerned, and Fangirl stares.

 It turns out that with the powers, the god candidate becomes a spectator spectre, forced to help the one who killed them.

 With the new unexpected power gain, and a person on their corner, Fangirl is convinced by Peace girl to win the competition once they come across the main big bad of the story; the candidate of Regression. After the hospital visit, Peace and Fangirl get to talking, and Peace is sorta just accepting her fate and her decision; she’s glad her time living is over and she doesn’t have to worry about anything again. She also doesn’t mind Fangirl’s motivation for moving on; to just be an onlooker in the contest. But then they bump into the candidate of Regression, and (while the details aren’t sorted on what exactly happens), Peace realizes the danger the world is in.

 Peace still has her morality compass, but she lost her chance at the fight. She convinces Fangirl to take the competition seriously by (After failing to get her to see the good she can do) bringing up that, as god, she wouldn’t just be WATCHING a fanfic unfold, she would be CREATING it. Fangirl is 1000% on board.

 From this point on, I’ll just list some ideas for the story progression:

 - Fangirl and Peace become genuinely good friends (and even girlfriends near the end). Fangirl has a group of friends already, but she never had a genuine connection to anyone; instead, always seeing them as characters. But with Peace becoming her own little onlooker, she opens up more, and gets to calling her ‘her first fan.’ Peace has never had friends period, and while Fangirl is indeed very… eccentric and has a warped way of seeing things, she finds that the girl is nice and sweet. Peace reigns in Fangirl’s worst impulses, and Fangirl helps Peace look at things differently. They help each other, and even bring comfort when the contest gets worse.

 - It’s revealed, however, that god-candidates that fail reincarnate once it’s over. They don’t get to stick around the god; the god is forever condemned to being alone. While Fangirl doesn’t mind this at first, as she never had any personal relationships she wanted to salvage, and prefers living through others stories, the closer she gets to Peace, the more she begins to fear losing her. By the end, though, there’s really nothing she can do but make sure Peace’s reincarnated body gets the best life. Peace, while not remembering her time with Fangirl as a candidate, becomes a heavily devoted religious person as well; never understanding why she gravitated to it as such a young age, or why she felt so heavily that god was a woman. She always feels like she’s being watched, but she’s never bothered by it.

Life has been good to her, and she knows God loves her.

 - The main antagonist, Regression, was a lot like Peace. They were dealt with every bit of bad luck the world offered, and it made them get to the point where they hated humanity as a whole. With the competition revealed, the only thing that brings them joy and hope is this opportunity to wipe everyone out of existence. Ideas on who this person is are still to be decided, but rn, I’m thinking they are still a child, younger than even Fangirl. This idea capitalizes on the tragedy of their outlook, and on the cruelty of the competition. As the story goes on, and they get their first kill (Possibly War) however, they do change out of their hatred somewhat. Regression gets the most kills and most powers by the end (still debating on whether or not they kill every other candidate, or one slips by and gets killed by Fangirl), and with every new spectator spectre, their views get a little broader. Not every candidate was a good person, but as they join the kid, they become protective of them, and learn from eachother, eventually leading to them forming a sort of family together. Seeing this, when Fangirl wins and deals the final blow, she reassures them all that she will reincarnate them together. After all, she reassures, she can’t have such a good story end in tragedy.

 - The other candidates are still a blurr for now.

I’m thinking War and Technological Advancement get together (As there’s never really one without the other). I’m deciding War does die first by Regression’s hands, and while unhappy about it, they respect the little kid for their ingenuity. War becomes their parental figure rather quickly when they see the situation the kid lives in, and earnestly helps the kid with their goal.

Technology dies second by pure accident (they are smart, but while they planned ten steps ahead of everyone’s moves, they forgot the simple mistake of their shoelaces being untied, and slipped at the last moment, giving enough time for Regression to kill them.) Technology is VERY ashamed, and War picks on them for it the remainder of their time together.

The one that would let the world stay as it was (lets nickname them Stay) is the character most unlikeable. They are the privileged who had a perfect life and see no reason to change anything; ignorant and uncaring to everyone else. They are hard to kill due to their regeneration, and it makes them cocky; they believe they will win eventually by just outliving everyone. But with both Fangirl and Regression on the hunt for them, and with War and Regression analyzing their power to help Regression figure out their weakness, they are killed by the kid and are forced to join them. They pout the whole time, and while they refuse to help at first, they come to the more time they spend with the three. Their sheltered outlook on life is quickly challenged, now that they see the kid’s daily routine and hear about the lives of the other two, and they realize they were not a good person at all. They learn and become better. (Small note here, now that I typed this all out, im actually considering Stay, War and Technology being poly parents? Dang. I got nothing on their ages or on who they are yet, but it’s between poly parents or Stay is like the elder sibling to Regression. To be decided.)

The 5th one still needs to be remembered (I swear I knew what to do with them but I forgot their existence entirely??? I came up with this story two years ago its been so long ;-; ) and is still a work in progress. I honestly have no idea what they were or who they were. Oof. Because of this, I have yet to decide if they join the duo of Peace and Fangirl or become a part of the Regression fam. I need to figure out another possible outcome for the world in order to center this character around it.

 - Some more general stuff about the world/competition:

Regression and Random are always the least likely to win compared to everyone else.

The world has been remade by past Regression candidates 3 times (meaning Regression has only ever won 3 times).

There have been numerous rounds of gods overall (too many to fully know because of the 3 regressions).

Random, however, has been known to have only won two times prior.

The random candidate has no particular views, always acts on whims, and when they are god, the most unexpected occurrences and peculiar findings occur.

The gods switch once the prior one gets bored with the job. The times each has ruled always differ, and no one has ever wanted to keep the occupation forever. It’s said that the original god came up with the system of choosing another one because they themselves realized they didn’t care anymore, and that’s why it keeps passing.

No favoritism is allowed with the prior god in choosing candidates. (need to figure out a way to keep this from happening)

Certain traits are looked for for God Candidates, including that they fit the ideals of the seven roles, but they can differ god to god. The prior god in this story wants to pass on the torch as soon as possible, so they searched for candidates that lived near one another to cut time off that is usually spent searching for one another.

Once a god retires, they die and are reincarnated as a complete clean slate. It’s possible that some god candidates have won twice and have no memories of it.

Once the God candidates are chosen, they physically can’t tell other humans about it. Only fellow candidates can know.

God candidates can’t die unless it’s by another candidate’s hands (they can kill themselves with this technicality because they are a candidate)

Elijah was born around 1000 AD, to a Viking family in what would eventually become Norway. He was the second eldest of several siblings: Finn, Niklaus, Kol, and Rebekah. He was turned when he was in his early 30s during or after a battle against an opposing army. He was murdered and turned into a vampire, and then abandoned by his maker.

He awoke some hours later, in transition, under a pile of bodies on the same battle field where he had been slain, and on instinct alone, managed to evade the sun. When the sun went down, he tried to make his way home, starving and confused. The first person he saw was his dear sweet baby sister Rebekah, whose throat he promptly tried to rip out.

After it had been made very clear that whatever he was would prevent him from going home (and it was very clear he was a monster now), he fled. Not much is known about his whereabouts and activities for several years, but he was presumed dead. He learned how to feed but found himself repulsed by his desire to kill, and he made attempts to deny his nature and live off animals.

This did not work. Abstaining from human blood just made him ravenous and so when he snapped, he would leave a trail of bodies. Time passed and Elijah learned the best way to kill, in a way he hoped and believed was more humane, though he still had to feed on living victims. Later on, he realized he could feed but didn't need to kill.

Fast forward to the expansion of Europe's superpowers and the expeditions to the New World (1420) and Elijah, having built a reputation for himself in Europe as noble and honorable man with useful connections, decides to go to America...

Fun facts:

the rest of the Mikaelson siblings, to his knowledge, lived long (and happy?) lives and eventually died, still very human

Elijah has a reputation for being a broker of information, someone who does favors for others, and as someone you can count on. He is known for being honorable and noble and for keeping his word.

If you fuck with Elijah, you will pay for it.
