When Someone Says They Wanna Be Harley Quinn or Wonder Woman for Halloween
GIF tutorial
At first: 1. Open your photoshop. I'll use cs6, but it's same on cs5.
2. Go on file>import>video frames to layers. [if it doesn't work, you have cs5 white rabbit, go down for another way.]
3. Choose a video from your computer, make you sure that it's mp4 or avi, mkv doesn't work.
4. Now select "selected range only" and "limit to every 2 frames". Choose a part of the video from what you want to me a gif. Now you should have something like this:
5. Now delete useless frames from timeline. Don't delete layers.
6. Next step it's sharpen. I downloaded an action long time ago, you add smart sharpen>amount: 500%, radius: 0,4px and remove: Guassian blur. You have to put in on every frame and always check if you have marked right frame and layer.
7. Now check timing for gir. Go on timeline and select "select all frames"
And change your timing to 0,12 seconds
8. Actually you can add your psd. I'm using this blog for psds, but you can check tags in this and this blogs.
9. All you need to do right now is save your gif. Go on file>save for web. Check your settings. It should look like this
And you have a gif!
[for people who has cs5 white rabbit, you need to do gifs from screenccaps. Here is good tutorial.]

How to make a (very) basic gif in Photoscape.
I've been using photoscape for a while now and have recently started making better quality gifs using Photoshop but I thought so many people, like me before, start of with not having the resources to make good quality gifs.
The best way to make gifs is to start of basic and work your way up. Learn from others and tutorial's that are provided. This tutorial is pretty basic, image heavy and may not be the best but I think it might help those out there who want to start off. The best thing is that all the pieces of software needed is free! So let's start :-)
Note: This is my personal way of doing it, so when you are attempting yours it may differ! Also ignore the fact that my video's change throughout, I deleted one of the ready made ones and couldn't be bothered re downloading it lol.
Software needed:
Photoscape x
Youtube Video Converter (if you haven't your video already) x
Jpeg Converter x
Basic gif tutorial
Okay, so a few have been asking me about gifs & I just got another request to create a tutorial about making a gif. I'm pretty sure you will find much better tutorials online & specially on Tumblr but here you are :]
First of all - you need to have two programmes: KM player & Photoshop [CS3/CS4/CS5]
(at least this is my way of creating the gifs)
After you have downloaded the video which you want to make a gif from, you open it up with the KM player. I suggest HD videos for better quality but that's okay.
You go to the exact second that you want the gif to start from & you pause. You press Ctrl + G.
This box should appear:
Adjust the settings as mine & then press play & start. This will extract the frames from the video to the destination you have designated (In the "Extract to..." folder). When you want it to stop you just press stop & close.
Now open the Photoshop.
Go to File>>Script>>Load files from stack & go to the folder where the frames are. Select the ones you want to use for the gif & open them in Photoshop.
Please mind: For the best results/quality, you should use these sizes dimensions for the gifs:
(those are the dimensions that the gif sets require but if you want to upload one single gif any width would work less than 500px)
Now consider that a gif with 500px width can have about 15-20 frames since we have the 1MB limit with gifs in Tumblr.
So back to Photoshop.
You have now opened the frames. Go to Window>>Animation. The animation bar will appear at the bottom.
Click what I have highlighted below:
And select "Make frames from layers" & "Reverse frames".
Also "Select all frames" & set a time for all of them, I usually select 0,1 seconds:
Make sure to resize your gif. Edit>>Image Size [I will set the width at 500px]
Now that's pretty much it. All you can do later is some coloring and probably some text if you want to - all these take some practice but regarding the making of the gif, that's it.
To save it properly, go to File>>Save for web & devices. Then apply these settings as shown:
MAKE SURE the size of the gif is UNDER 1MB.
Click "Save", name your gif & voila.
The hardest part is the coloring really but if you download some proper PSDs, you can do miracles!
Let me know for any help anons ;]
Hope I somehow helped!
This is the finished gif:
