Julian had no idea what he was doing. All he knew was that Elizabeth Nash had beautiful blue eyes, and that her lips were soft and warm against his. He tentatively placed one hand on her cheek, but he didn’t deepen the kiss - although he wished he could.

Liz walked from the docking ring to the promenade gritting her teeth. Anyone watching closely might have noticed how stiffly she was walking or the odd way she was holding her arm. If it had been quieter, they might have heard the way her breath hissed, laboured and pained. But as it was, no one gave her a second look as she went by, headed straight for the infirmary. 

She wasn’t sure what was in the cargo container that had fallen on her, but from the weight, she assumed it was lead. Instinctively, she’d put up an arm to stop it. All that had managed to do was focus her injuries on her arm and shoulder. Her ribs had taken a beating on the way down, and given time, she was certain she’d have a black eye for her trouble. 

The pilot smirked as he pulled on his aviator hat which matched perfectly to the leather jacket he wore already. Tom had to spent a few more days on Deep Space Nine before he could board on Voyager and in the meantime he had made friends with the Station’s Doctor Bashir. He waved at Julian who was dressed like him as he saw the young man. Julian had invited Tom to a holoprogram about war pilots back in the twentieth century.

The twentieth century was Tom’s passion, as flying was. Both combined with a friend was about the best thing that could happen to him, he though. And after all those boring and wasted days in the penal colony he was happy to be part of this joy. With a high five he greeted his pal and smirked: “Ready Julian? Can’t wait to see your program.”, he said and gestured to the door of the holosuit. “If you please…”, he smiled.
