12. How committed are they to their principles, and what might get them to abandon them?
val is someone who values the safety and prosperity of herself and her crew above all else. while she is, strictly speaking, a political dissident, she's no activist and certainly no altruist. she isn't heartless, though, and nerve knows how to manipulate her into doing the unselfish thing when it really matters to them.
18. Are they vengeful or do they easily forgive and forget or do they not forgive but don't go as far as acting on that?
building on the previous answer, val only goes as far as she believes is necessary to ensure she (and those she feels responsible for) won't be hurt again. she's not petty, but if she thinks someone is going to be a problem again in the future, they'll be met with a level of force she sees as proportional to the threat. an eye for an eye leaves the enemy less able to take your other eye, doesn't it? that said, she recognizes that some people just need sense knocked into them and she tends to be quite forgiving of her allies.
22. What is their relationship with their body like?
she's fat, butch, intersex, a woman, etc. so it kinda goes without saying that it wasn't always good, but it's a non-issue for her during the story. she's not completely ambivalent about her appearance, she puts effort into gelling up her hair every morning, but she doesn't really care how others see her. unless they're flirting, that is.

30. How paranoid is your OC? How does this affect their daily life?
not at all tbh. nerve is almost overly laidback for someone whose best friends are a wanted-alive-or-dead fugitive and a career criminal, to the point where val sometimes feels like she has to worry for the two of them 😅
37. What is the most common feeling or emotion in your OC's life?
curiosity! they spend most of their time on val's ship doing research. they also feel a great deal of compassion for other people, they just don't get to see many of them on a routine basis...
42. How easily influenced by others is your OC?
nerve is extremely headstrong and self-assured. they're open to learning from others, but they're not one to let anyone's beliefs or behaviors dictate their own, not when it meant losing their medical license and not now.

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why?
nerve didn't grow up with a temperate climate, but they like rain and they love watching plants grow, so they preferred the rainy season to the dry season and of the four, spring would've been their favorite.
emily-claire likes fall. she thinks it's really pretty when the leaves change color. she enjoys cooler weather but finds snow to be more of a nuisance than anything, so winter is not it.
🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worst thing your oc could hear from someone?
nerve has lived enough to have thick skin and few insecurities by the time the audience meets them, i don't think anything a stranger could say would hurt more than a paper cut, but val is her best friend and if she were to say she wishes they'd never met... oh boy.
emily-claire would fall apart if you accused her of being selfish.
🖍️ CRAYON - what advice would you give to them?
nerve may be one of my only ocs who would not benefit from anything i could tell them, they know better than i do, so let's talk emily-claire... well, this is pretty much the core message of her character, but i would tell her there are things more important than work and she'll live to regret sacrificing them for the sake of a promotion.
☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?
nerve comes across as a well-meaning mad scientist type, happy-go-luck with a sharp wit, and that's just about right. they spent many years trying to be a perfect, clean-cut drone and it got them nowhere, so now they're living by their own rules and they're going to be unapologetically themself. they hide their fear and uncertainties very well, especially around their patients — it's all part of the beside manner — but they'll open up when the timing and company is right.
