It's something he doesn't even control it, he just does it. That's why Hal always gives him something to play with. A simple ring, to pass around his fingers. A pen or pencil, even his own ring.

Until Barry starts to be enough aware that he feels guilty for always stealing or playing with Hal's ring. So, instead, he puts it back on Hal's finger and take his hand. Fingers following his veins, circling his knuckles or lightly scratching his palm.

Hal loves it, way more than he should, and starts to play back. He squeezes Barry's hand back, trying to pull back for the fun of it or simply start to run his thumb on the back of Barry's hand.
