Assignment 12. Head turn and gesture.
I struggled a lot with planning this out. (Thank you Ella and Natasha for putting me straight) I love how this turned out in the end. Let’s ignore the towel going straight through his face.
Assignment 11. Head turn.
Pretty happy with how this turned out. Would be nice if his face was more animated, something to think about for the next time.
References I used on YouTube while making my Assignment 10 video
I originally planned to have a cantering horse in the video but I couldn’t find a canter cycle actually drawn out on the internet. Slow motion YouTube videos are the next best thing.

10. Exaggeration.
It’s not about making the image more distorted but more convincing. Below is a video of a fight in Tom and Jerry - the movements are very exaggerated. It pairs up with Secondary Action very well also.

9. Timing.
This video shows a wheel moving on 1s, 2s and 3s and how they look. How the animation is shot or even how spaced out the frames are can made a huge difference as you can see in the next video.

6. Slow In Slow Out
Slow In Slow Out is exactly what the name says - the animation starts slow and ends slow. This works in the case of human movements like swinging a tennis racket or starting to run. It wouldn’t look right with a bouncing ball on the downward bounce or a robot.

5. Follow Through and Overlapping Action.
Another quick video from Brown Bag. More information on this principle and all the other from another site here. The examples on this site are great because they also show examples of not using the principles and what difference they make.
As can be seen in the case of this bag here, the top of the bag is last to move and also last to settle. Different parts of the action are referred to as Follow Through and Overlapping Action. The action between Follow Through and Overlapping Action is called Drag.
