ok but if byler was never meant to be Canon why is will gay why would you have one of his first character traits before the show even began be he's gay if he's not gonna be with Mike what was the point

I want Torse to have to grapple with not being able to do the things he thought were his only purpose. I want him to get absolutely leveled by Max several times before he manages to win a match. I want Max to help him up after every match he looses and applaud him for a match well fought, or be frustrated that Torse is holding back too much. I want Torse to be told that he should be (and is) valued beyond his ability to win a fight. I want Max (and the rest of the Zephyr crew) to start helping Torse heal without even realizing it.
