The Kansas City Rap duo BLKFLANL drops this collaborative producer (Conductor Williams) emcee (Barrel Maker) EP titled “WINS.THE.RACE.” Although it is a brief track list of only 4 songs, each one leave you wanting to hear more. You will probably find this playlist on repeat without even noticing after a few loops. 

The opening track self titled “Wins.The.Race” is full of punchlines with nice lyricism. “Pete Parker, leap frogging the competition and weak hearted” is just one bar that stuck out to us. Conductor Williams delivers an eerie and ominous vibe on this bear. Giving Barrel Maker the perfect tempo and vibe to get his bars off.

You can hear the CLASSIC Hip-Hop influence from these two on WINS.THE.RACE and we can’t get enough of it. The sample in track 2 “Take Your L is soulful to the maximum. You can catch a vibe just by listening to the end of the track. 

On Track three “Place Your Bets” we come across another sample and to be honest we get a REAL Pusha T vibe. The flow and lyrical content really puts @iambarrelmaker​ on a broaden playing field, leaving competition in the dirt. 

QUOTABLE: “People wanna know why Barrel Maker call the shots, cause I make all my shots, what you thought I would ride the bench? I ain’t had a break since High School graduation after my principal shook hand and said congratulations.”

The 4th track “Shut It Down” closes out “BLKFLANL” and once again is accompanied by a lovely sample. “You got to see it to believe it” Conductor Williams did his THING on this last beat. We could hear some legends drop a verse on this. Someone call HOV!

This collaborative effort in terms of producing and emceeing is a rare art fort not many bring to light in this vastly changing industry but it is always nice to see 2 young, hungry, talented artists come together and combine their energy and vision to create GREAT music.
