Fremont Brew 7000 2023 Edition Barleywine (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. As a 13.9% English-Style Barleywine, this is as big as you'd expect -- tons of toffee and roast and some clear sweetness in the nose. Fainter dark fruit and booze are there, too, and this drinks with much the same profile. Relatively light on carbonation though this manages to not be too cloying as the alcohol helps cut through it a bit and there's some moderate bitterness, too.

And in the end, the now hidden flow of rainbows is carried down, river by river, sea after sea, until the tiniest life forms absorb it and explode in a bloom of corals, somewhere, in another faraway corner of this orb. And if want to find the rainbow again on the tip of your tongue, the first sip of a Damascus Steel barleywine will flood you again with the sweet and spicy and sometimes burning memories of that evening walk through Zurich.
