Barkatullah University, originally known as Bhopal University, was founded in the year 1970 in Madhya Pradesh's capital. The university was later changed to Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988, to honour the famed independent activist Professor. Barkatullah, who was born in Bhopal. The NAAC 2015 graded the school with a grade of B.
Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, and Rairagarh are within the eight districts that fall under the authority of the University. Additionally, it has extension centers in Betul and Bioware as well.
