Volume 33 (Bard’s arc) vs. Volume 30 (Mey-rin’s arc): The way Sebastian fawns over Bard and Mey-rin is way too amusing, unbeknownst to Ciel. Volume 33 showcases Layla from the Athena Sanatorium. For the AU, she/they and the Phantomhive household are dressed up as Japanese firefighters with Bard as the matoi holder wearing the traditional/ceremonial attire during the Edo Period together with Mey-rin (holding a fire axe) , Finnian, and Tanaka (on the ladder). The colour code, methinks, is fuchsia.
Thinking about the term “runt” the first time Bard learned to know Ciel. It was a term of endearment nonetheless. Ciel reminding him of his son, Bard/Baldo Junior. Would Bard learn of the reasons he must defend his employer? That both of them experienced having their families taken away from them therefore losing their “innocence,” their faith in humanity? When did Bard stop referring Ciel a “runt”?
Come to think of it, both Bard and Ciel suffer PTSD. Bard knows and recognises this affliction. As a result, both of them keep a loaded gun under their pillows. The members of the Phantomhive Household, more or less, share almost the same tales of woe, the similar predicament.
Doubtful that this is all coincidence. The Demon’s cunning mind and Ciel’s sympathy put this troupe all together.

If Yana would grace us once more information about his background it would be nice to know if Ciel officially gave Bard the task to sample the latest weapons as the latter had a connection with Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim while using a prototype of an automatic machine gun, which the latter invented and named the Maxim gun (the Circus arc), thus confirming if Ciel’s enterprise dabbles into weapons industry too. That also explains that the Phantomhive Manor’s armoury is fit for waging a war.
Bard’s “personal demons”…
are the most powerful and the strongest.
The callback in this manga is so intense. I love Yana T for it.
