People are calling Ken a trophy husband but forget he has a LOW volume of clothes and nice shoes. Clothes he has to share with 2-7 other men (and Allen). Barbie is not buying that Guy a 20-Carat diamond ring or convertible sports car to keep him around.
Not a kept man, but a couch surfer that is able to bum rides to the beach (affectionate) bc he’s got good vibes and no job and is polite to Barbie’s 20 other female friends and Midge
Google AI, I am trying to find some background information about a Barbie playset. Stay in your lane.
Barbie TV Game Show was a 1987 release, where Barbie was the host of a game show with the assistance of Ken working the camera. It’s a quite elaborate set, with changeable prize cards and working scorekeepers for the friends of Barbie participating in the show.
I personally am delighted by this for two reasons:
1. I love game shows.
2. I love Barbie playsets for things that I never would have imagined would have a Barbie playset.
It didn’t begin to occur to me that Barbie would have actually hosted a game show, in a playset themed around this - as opposed to just being a game show host in a single doll release, I mean.
One part that the AI did get right, if only by accident, is that there was a Barbie game show episode of Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse.
The set design that they went with here does bear some similarities to the 80s playset - it’s not a 1:1 replica, but the host’s podium is much the same and the wheel looks quite similar.
The episode was called “Let’s Make A Doll”, and was about trying to determine which of Barbie’s best friends knew her best.
I think “Let’s Make A Doll” is a name wasted here. I’d like to see that title used for a competition reality show along the lines of Project Runway, except with Barbie doll design instead of human fashion.
Mattel, I have ideas. Listen to me.
Fun fact, though: this episode gives Barbie’s mother’s name as Martha (at least according to the episode synopsis on the Life in the Dreamhouse wiki). But almost all other media gives Barbie’s mother’s name as Margaret.
I’m a better friend to Barbie than any of them, apparently.
Can you do a Barbie part 2 of your headcanons? I’m interested in the movies too how they all fit.
Hi, anon! I'd love to! I'm sorry for the delay, I really needed to write everything down to make sure I kept my thoughts straight.
Barbie Lore Part 2: The High School Years (Continued)
So, in my last post, I didn't want to make it too long in case anyone was bored or uninterested with my version of Barbie content. But, since there is an interest being shown...
I want to take a step back before Barbie: Dreamhouse Adventures. I know that this is a little counterproductive, but I promise, I have a point. In Part 1, I discussed how The Barbie Diaries can be directly linked to Barbie: Vlogger and then Dreamhouse Adventures. What I left out was the in-between of the Barbie: Vlogger Youtube series and the Netflix show. That would be The Great Puppy Adventure, A Puppy Chase, and Dolphin Magic, respectively released in 2015, 1026, and 2017.
Barbie moves often are released 1 year apart, but are meant to be short stories in a long line of Barbie history. So, I would not assume that in Barbie lore, these three movie events actually happen in 3 years.
Barbie & Her Sisters in The Great Puppy Adventure involves the backstory of how the Roberts' sisters get their 4 puppies. The girls are staying with their Grandma Roberts to start their summer vacation. In Barbie's case, this would make this the summer after Barbie's sophomore year of high school from The Barbie Diaries. This story also works simultaneously with Barbie: Vlogger since they are simply shorts with Barbie as she expands her work as a Vlogger, which we see in later media.
Barbie & Her Sisters in a Puppy Chase seems to take place not much longer after The Great Puppy Adventure. It's still summer, I believe, as there's no mention of Barbie's main friends nor school. The Roberts' sisters go to a tropical island for Chelsea's dance competition where they bring their 4 puppies. So, we know this story happens after the stay with Grandma, but still early in Barbie's younger years as we are now starting to slowly expand the lore on her sisters.
Finally, I'll talk about Dolphin Magic. Barbie, her sisters, and the puppies are a part of the main cast, just now with the inclusion of Ken as Barbie visits him during his internship. Safely, I will once again assume that this is during the summer as it is a marine biology institute where Ken is doing his internship and as a recent college graduate, I know that many student internships take place over the course of the summer. While Barbie and Ken are still in high school, internships are still possible. At the beginning of the movie, it seems like Ken has been fairly well established at this facility, or at least, not so new. Maybe, this internship was for a full summer, so let's assume June - August; and the only reason Barbie hasn't visited before was because she's had her own adventurous summer with Puppy Chase and Puppy Adventure.
In conclusion, these three movies encapsulate the summer between sophomore and junior year, all while the Dreamhouse is being renovated (maybe why Barbie and her sisters did so much travelling and being away - their parents wanted to focus on the house, but still allow the girls to have a fun summer with out architectural stresses). All of which leads us up to the first episode of Dreamhouse Adventures.

After weeks of wanting them I finally got myself 2 of the Barbie style icon Pop mart blind boxes 😍 My favourite ones are Totally Hair, Jewel hair mermaid, ballet wishes and the Secret happy birthday Barbie who is GORGEOUS 😍 but I got skier Barbie and silken flame Barbie who are both really cool! So I’m still so happy with them 😊 I’m not that keen on 60s Barbies but this one I have is fabulous ❤️ adding the skier’s accessories was such a faff, her skis aren’t on right but I give up trying 😅 Now I really want more 😁 they look so cute in my little Barbie section 🩷
I miss the days when Barbie™ would overthrow totalitarian dictators and uncover royal conspiracies within a county's monarchy. What happened to that?
One of the funniest things i watched
