A bar code reader offered by Radio Shack for the Model 100 was answered by a bar code listing in this issue (which went so far as to have its cover painting, by Rainbow cover artist Fred Crawford, include the actual ad on the back cover). The magazine looked ahead to airlines permitting use of the Model 100 in flight, the utility of the portable computer to journalists was acknowledged, and there was a lengthy review of the Tandy 2000 that happened to suggest it as "the most-likely home-base companion to the peregrinating PoCo."

Cameras check the ballot barcode against the address barcode, and then the ballots are boxed and transported to the sorting machine, where lasers, scales and cameras again verify the contents and sort the ballots by ZIP code. After that, the ballots are loaded into boxes and put on pallets.

However, you may now refer to the barcode - remember, if the first 3 digits are: 690-692 ... then it is MADE IN CHINA 00 - 09 ... USA & CANADA 30 - 37 FRANCE 40 - 44 GERMANY 471 ... Taiwan 49 ... JAPAN 50 ... UKBUY USA & CANADIAN MADE by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number.
