Okay so I usually donât like being too emotional or share too much about my personal feelings or problems. But, Iâd just like to share how Finn and wrestling helped me through a really difficult time in my life.
I was forced by my parents to enroll in a college I HATED under a course I HATED. I HATED it so much. I HATED HATED HATED it with my whole heart. I loathed attending my classes because I felt that itâs not where Iâm supposed to be, the feeling of isolation in a place where I felt completely and utterly hopeless. By the end of the first semester, I immediately filed for an honorable dismissal in my college.
And so, I was out of school. I was doing nothing all day. I felt directionless, and I didnât know what to do with my life. All I did was binge random shows and anime. Then I remembered that I used to watch WWE when I was in 5th grade. My brother told me he watched the network special The Beast in the East because he was (and still is) very enamored with Brock Lesnar and Suplex City.
So I watched that special and in one of the matches on the card, I was very intrigued by this imposing figure, donning a plethora of body paint, resembling a monster from Predator. Against him was a husky and seemingly disrespectful champion with the initials âKOâ on his gear, and on his shoulders, a championship belt with an absurdly large âXâ on the middle.
I was completely entranced and watched the match intently, fervently rooting for the demon to slay the insolent tyrant. And sure enough, I was not disappointed as this man became champion.
I only found out about NXT and the new champâs name (and his real name) when I searched social media which was abuzz due to this network special. This was when I started to search for Finnâs Instagram and his Twitter.
The more I found out about Fergal (as opposed to his in-ring persona), the more I started falling for this man. I started to figure out his quirks (like his most infamous one, LEGO.) I suddenly felt much better about my current dilemma because I had a person who I can look at and feel warm, fuzzy feelings (literally all the feels). Can I also say that although he has a BANGINâ body, itâs his smile and his general weirdness that makes me really happy :)
But I also saw his vulnerabilities. I saw him get injured twice (including his current shoulder injury) and I learned that he has a reading disability. I fell even more because I saw his imperfections and Iâm proud that he didnât let them hinder him towards his dream. Thatâs also why I tend to grab inspiration from Fergal more than anyone else.Â
I can honestly say that I owe him so much just for his existence because even though I donât know him personally, he was able to lift my spirits up when nobody else could. He literally saved me. That is why I am forever grateful to him and I only wish the best for his career and his future. That is why I feel proud to be part of the BĂLORÂ CLUB! That is why every time I wear his shirt, I feel so much pride for what and who I am representing. That is why I started my blog! I liken my blog to a never-ending love letter or âthank youâ note, to show how much of myself and who I became is because of him (gowd this is so cheesy.)
Currently, I am a transferee in the university that was my first choice, under a course which I am more or less inclined to. Iâm doing great as of late. I continue this blog of mine so I can remember the good times, but also the painful times in my life. I continue this blog to celebrate to wonderful human being that is Fergal Devitt and to show how genuinely grateful I am to him and also to the rest of the WWE Universe (including, yes, you, my followers haha.) So yeah thatâs my life (how BORINGGG, stop talking now Godddd!)
