You can thank/blame @sw70sw70 for this one – she’s the one who suggested I read this. As I was reading it, I was struck by how gentle and lyrical it was, and I kept hearing it in my own voice. And thus a new project was born.

Thanks to @consultingsmartarse and @totallysilvergirl for pronunciation and place name help. Any mistakes are my own. Oh, and thank to @lockedinjohnlock-podfics, for having a sympathetic ear when I was feeling sorry for myself after some negative feedback. I was talking to @mssmithlove1 the other day, and she asked me what fic(s) of mine I really liked, and I went straight to thinking about which ones were the most popular and whatnot because I’d never really thought about which one was my favorite. Which got me thinking.

So, @BakerStMel (aka Callie4180) bought me in the Fandom Trumps Hate auction, and she wanted a pub sign for her fic The Skull and Aster.

No, really, go read this:  Mrs. Hudson goes off to Edinburgh to live with her friend Margaret and gives her pub to Sherlock, who renames it The Skull and Aster.  See Sherlock pine when John goes off to Afghanistan!  See Sherlock deduce drink orders! See a very creepy Moriarty!  See Sherlock say to Mycroft, “Shouldn’t you be climbing back into your coffin by now?”

I’ve just posted Where You Hang Your Heart  (S/J, M, 13.5K) written for bakerstmel who won my services in the Fandom Trumps Hate auction. The story is a retelling of my recent “The Walking Man” - told this time in John’s Point of View. Both chapters now appear together as this new story. I won the beta services of bennettmp339 in the auction, and gratefully used her excellent services for this story as well.

It was a real pleasure to get to know my giftee (client?) as I wrote the story. I entered the auction with a bit of trepidation, but it was such a wonderful andd inspiring experience all the way around I’d definitely do it again.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted my Fandom Trumps hate auction fic for bakerstmel. I had requests soon after from someone who wanted to create a podfic, and another who wanted to translate the fic into Chinese.

I’m happy to report that both have already been posted. What a huge honor, and a nice bonus for bakerstmel!  I wish I read Chinese, but alas, i don’t. If any of you do, you can find the translation linked from my fic, or here:
