When doing renovations to her home in the last city, Annalee had uncovered a metal crate full of journals, and books most of them predated the city… and they were terrifying to read. Annalee closed the crumbling journal with a clap spraying a cloud of dust. How could people forget? How could they just push the past aside? Annalee stared at the crate of paper journals. They were from one of her family members, a family member who lived during the dark age. Before the last city. Guardians weren't guardians at all, they were tyrants, that ruled over scraps of land and resources. The fighting between these warlords was horrid and cruel. People would get caught in the crossfire… Her ancestor spoke of fires that raged for days, talked of lightning that streaked the sky. Time and space warped with the power that void carried. It was scary. It was sickening. "Lee!" The girl looked up and over at the figure that stood on the staircase, his skin glowed in the dark, and he smiled. His light was once comforting, now it was oppressive. Suffocating. He came down the stairs, his red cloak sweeping behind him as he walked over, his stupid grin never leaving his face, as he got down on haunches "Thought I might find you down here." He said brightly. "Where have you been? You were supposed to meet up with me and Axe-12 an hour ago." Annalee pushed her hair back. "Y-yeah, yeah…" She muttered. "Actually, um you know I'm not feeling too good." She lied and felt a cold arrow of guilt hit her when her boyfriend's face fell a little. Allen was never good at hiding his emotions, even when he tried. You always knew where you stood with him. "Because you're spending all your time in a cramped gross basement." He commented. "Come on Lee… You promised you'd go Dawning shopping with us, and you know how Axe is he's hopeless." Anna looked at the man she'd fallen for hard, almost four years ago now… The man she'd met during the Red War, just as mortal and frightened as she had been. Then she looked at the piles of journals that sat untouched. The tyrants seemed like a bad dream, something that couldn't possibly be real. "Anna?" Allen asked. "Anna, mission control to Annalee, anyone up there?" Annalee turned to her boyfriend smiling. What happened was centuries ago now… A bad dream. That's all it was. "Yeah, your right. Axe is certainly going to need our help." Allen laughed and stood pulling her up. "See all I have to do is give you the sad eyes." He said in triumph and Annalee scoffed. "No, I just don't want you waiting till the last minute to do your Dawning shopping like do every year. And call me in a panic." She laughed. Allen looked like he was trying to form a comeback but decided against it and put his arm around her waist. "Yeah? You're probably right." "I'm always right." Destcember Day 8 Tyrant I did it...

The “sticking to it” part is where I falter the most though.... ugh...
