Hi, I just wanted to add a little fact to the whole „DT‘s last BAFTA stint was so bad, they didn‘t want him back“:
The video of this year‘s opening sketch (the song) has 3.5 mil views with over 98k likes, the 2024 opening sketch with MS has 1.7mil views with over 42k likes.
This year‘s opening monologue has 946k views with 16k likes, last year‘s monologue has 105k views with 1k likes.
(see BBC’s YouTube channel)
Objectively speaking, this year‘s was better received (at least by the people on YouTube).
Funnily enough, in both sketches his scene partner put him down (Michael with the I‘m so much more important than you and Georgia with the I only care about the gift bag) but of course, only Georgia means it for real, while Michael‘s is clearly part of the script.
Misogyny and jealousy at it‘s finest…
Hi! <3
That's indeed true about the numbers! Though to be fair, the official BAFTA channel's viewings concerning David's opening monologue for the BAFTA 2024 are 1M, so in a way, we can say both opening speech are sort of "equal in popularity".
Either way, that's once again something they like to ignore. And you're also right about the opening sketches! Both of them "puts him down", a humour David often uses, YET, whenever Georgia does it, that obviously means it's true. Staged is literally famous for David and Michael bickering in it, and tons of depreciating jokes (to the both of them, might I add), and for being... STAGED, yet they also use this show and some of its moments to "prove something".
Just indeed another proof of how dishonest they can be to serve their "truth".
