In the Philippines, the current state of the economy has been the subject of much debate. With very low minimum wage and bad mass transportation, many netizens are angry with the latest statement of Donnalyn Bartolome about being grateful that we still have work this 2023. It is undeniable that the Philippine economy has long been suffering from various issues, such as the high unemployment rate, poverty, and low wages. The minimum wage, for instance, has been on a downward spiral since the pandemic began. The current minimum wage rate stands at Php 533.00, which is far below the very basic necessities of living, such as food and rent. This means that a large portion of the population is not able to make enough money to pay for their basic needs. Additionally, the state of mass transportation in the Philippines is also in a sorry state. The bus system is overcrowded, while the trains are often delayed and unreliable. This has made it difficult for people to go to work and make a living. This has been exacerbated by the pandemic, as many people have lost their jobs and are struggling to make ends meet.
