I have kind of a gross question. It's about poop, so I apologize for it being kinda gross but I just got my hognose on fuzzies, and his poop has changed? It was really dark and now it's suddenly really light? I know the fur makes it more solid but does it change because they're nutritionally different than pinkies or should I set up a fecal exam with my vet? Again I apologize but it was a little jarring to find!
You could be seeing the urate, which would have gotten larger after switching to fuzzies. Like you said, the fur also does make a difference in the appearance of the poop. If you havenāt had a fecal done on your hognose lately I would definitely recommend that though! Thereās likely nothing wrong but fecal tests are cheap and can clue you in on a lot of issues so theyāre excellent to have done whenever you think something might be up.
I hope you don't mind my asking, but I have a juvie hognose, and he's on a feeding schedule of 1 pinkie every 4 days. He's hit a bit of a growth spurt and now when he eats 1 pink, there's almost no visible lump(if at all). So I started doing 2 pinks but it seems like too much? I was wondering if I offer 2 pinks should I space out his feeding more or should I do one and just find pinkies a bit larger? He's definitely not ready for fuzzies yet so I just wanted some advice! Thank you for your time!
I would suggest either continuing what youāre doing (two pinks per feeding) but feed every 5 days (or at least enough time for him to poop plus a day or two) or moving him onto larger pinks or peach fuzzies! Sometimes you can find really small sized pf. Good luck!
