Over the next few months I will be looking at the core pillars that BackOutThere is built upon: Explore, Courage, Connection, Achievement, Passion, Faith, Patience and Support. When put together they empower individuals and groups.
Iâll start this first blog with a quote from Victor Frankl, an eminent Jewish psychiatrist who was imprisoned by the Nazi regime during the second world war. Â In his book he describes two suicidal inmates during his time in concentration camps. Â Both men like many at that time had lost all hope and expected little from life but death, they had lost the will to live. Â
Frankl wrote, âIn both casesâŠit was a question of getting them to realise that life was still expecting something from them.â For one man it was his young child, who was living abroad.  For the other, a scientist, it was his thesis and books he needed to finish.  Frankl wrote, âThis uniqueness and singleness which distinguishes each individual and gives a meaning to his existence has a bearing on creative work as much as it does on human loveâŠA man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life.  He knows the âwhyâ for his existence, and will be able to bear the almost any âhowââ.
That is what BackOutThere is all about!
