mhm!!! i've always believed that the self is defined by boundaries, and by loving *everything*, accepting everything, you lose those boundaries and that self... a sort of spiritual suicide. but this doesn't mean that her entire philosophy is just wanting to be rid of herself; i don't even think she knows nor cares about the result. loving the world is a beautiful thing, but it needs to be done in moderation lest you fall into nonexistence, like in the ending. ultimately, she had to choose between loving everything and loving herself, but... she chose both. in this sense, she *is* the universe. she perceives her world into existence for herself, a sort of godhood on deciding what happens and what doesn't, most evidently showcased by her consistent belief that if she believes in something hard enough, it'll become true. and it's true, to a degree! look at tosya. her "ability" lets her be closer to the universe's core, understand it on a better wavelength, and thus blurs the lines between them.

i think asya is never allowed to be her own person. between her classmates and loving the world and being the universe, she isn't "allowed" to have boundaries, to have what constitutes a self. in the end, she embraces this to her own detriment, but it raises the question; what would she have lived like if she didn't? how much happier would she be? would she be happier at all? it's interesting to think about...
