luke having a sword that represented himself and his actions was an insanely cool writing choice on rick's part. backbiter is a sword that is half-celestial-bronze and half-steel, meaning it can kill mortals and monsters. this dual efficiency symbolizes how luke's decisions in returning kronos to his throne wouldn't just harm the gods' world--it would destroy human civilization as well. but also, as rick said, backbiter was a forging of the gods' and mortals' worlds. it's an inanimate embodiment of demigods, luke specifically. the fact that its a sword truly shows how much destruction a demigod could cause if they defended the wrong side.
