Alrighty now English language, riddle me this - If a mom and dad have sons and daughters, an aunt and uncle have nieces and nephews, grandparents have grandkids, cousins have first second third etc. cousins, and godparents have godchildren, then what title do I, as a babysitter, use to address the kids I babysit?
âThe kids I babysitâ is awfully long and not at all cute. âBabysiteesâ is a bit weird. The kids call me their babysitter, so what do I call them? Heck on that note, what do nannies call the kids they nanny for?Â
Sure I could say âIâm their babysitterâ but that feels so distant, do you know what I mean? Not like saying âSheâs my niece,â etc and so on. And even though I may only spend a few hours with them a week, I feel like after a certain point in time Iâve developed enough of a relationship with the kids to call them my something, besides âmy chargesâ.Â
I havenât even seen any children for 72 hours and I have âwheels on the busâ stuck in my head.
