ACTUALLY I just got an email via patreon that Seanan unearthed an old mislabeled box of Stars Fall Home CDs, which can be purchased by contacting her through her website. So try that first. (If it turns out she's sold all of them by the time you contact her, lemme know.)
A friend of mine was kind enough to offer to mail out a copy of the CD for me after my post, but I’m very happy to hear that my impassioned plea for the album has resulted in it being available to a few more people!!!
axonsandsynapses replied to your post “peekadora: pieandhotdogs: soloontherocks: Carrie Fisher’s my...”
i mean, she celebrated her jewish heritage, but she also mostly identified as agnostic and was raised protestant, so eh. as a jewish person, i'm not really upset by people wanting to remember her in their own way (i can't speak for other jewish folks, however)
honestly fair, i’m not jewish & therefore am not an authority on the matter, i’ve just seen other jewish folx on here expressing the same concern that i did but honestly idk

like you are totally within your rights to dislike jyn as a character, and i'm totally with you in that i wish they took more time exploring cassian and the others instead of mostly focusing on her, but please consider: you're hating on her for showing exactly the same characteristics at the beginning as han solo does. (and like han, she ends up changing her attitude).
like again, you are totally within your rights to dislike her (the whole dynamic of white girl overshadowing her poc companions *is* troubling), and i’ll butt out of it after this, but it just bothers me seeing so many people shitting on her character for exactly the same things people celebrate in han.
Alright so……………….. wanting to defend a female character from misogyny is good and all but these two asks actually really annoy me.
Let’s get into it:
First of all, I literally have never particularly liked or blogged all that positively abt Han so comparing the two is weird? Second of all saying they’re “exactly the same” in any capacity or that I’m “hating on her” feels odd and disingenuous.
Han’s a lovable rogue. He’s self-centered and rude, he loves the ladies, thinks following the law is optional, and relies on his charm to get out of pretty much every bad situation he finds himself in. He also has a well-hidden heart of gold. Not my favorite type of dude, but a well-established character type.
Jyn’s also a well-established type of character - the Strong Female Character™. Flat as a pancake but great at looking good, killing her enemies, and inspiring dozens of people to come fight and die with her for no real reason other than that the narrative calls for it. White Katniss in space, but with less character development and more eyeliner.
I find Han frustrating because he’s a misogynystic fuck, not because he decides to choose his friends at the end of ANH. But you know what, at least he has some good lines and a solid amount of charisma (thanks to Harrison). Jyn? I got nothing from Jyn every time she was on screen. She had about as much emotional depth as a piece of paper.
Plus, most annoying of all, Jyn is not integral to the plot at all. She did not need to be in this movie, fullstop. Her dad? Yes. Her? Well her relationship with her father was the leverage the rebellion used to contact Saw, but afterwards…Â
Y’all, why was she part of that super serious Important People council meeting at the rebel base? What earned her that place at the strategy table with Mon and her senator pals when she wasn’t an officer like Cassian or even a regular-ass rebel agent? What gave her the right to steal Cassian’s line about hope and deliver it like she was the one who came up with it, and then give that annoying, pretentious, long-ass speech? Okay, the Rogue One team basically took everyone who was willing to go with them on the mission so I guess her being there isn’t a stretch, but why the holy hell was Jyn co-leader of the team when she had no special skills to contribute and no leading experience to speak of????
The reason why she’s shoehorned into the story the way that she is is because she’s the only white character in the entire main cast. The reason why she’s the protagonist is because she’s the only white character in the entire main cast. The reason why the movie spends so much time and energy on her screentime, and her feelings, and her backstory is because she’s the only white character of the entire main cast.
Han is not the main character of the OT, he’s a sidekick. He’s in those movies for comic relief and romance and to provide contrast with Luke, the actual main character. He’s literally not comparable to Jyn at all lmao (at least not in the OT, who knows what the Han Solo trilogy will be like). Saying I’m “hating on Jyn” for nothing else but some throwaway tags on a post that’s not even about her and then trying to pull the misogyny card on me, a Known Stan of Basically Every Female Character Ever, when I have perfectly acceptable reasons to not appreciate her, is super fucking frustrating.
