If Myrcella seems a little bi-polar, I want you to remember that even though she has access to Harry’s memories, she is not him. She is not an adult. She is a teenage girl going through the single most difficult time in her life – puberty. Her body is a chemical battleground and even though she has years of experience of dealing with the Court and people in general, she can still be reduced down to a pretty girl in a pretty dress who has a crush on the boy with the nice hair, and is terrified that he doesn’t feel the same way. So, in short, while she appears confident, she has her moments of doubt.

Cersei seems to flip-flop a lot with her emotions, and I know many are confused by this. To begin, let’s explain that she is a complicated person. Yes, she seems to be characterized by three moods in the books: Bitchy, Bitchier, Bitchiest. In Acquainted, however, she divides herself by the people she associates.

So, to begin with Robert. Cersei hates his guts. He lost the woman he loved, and then he married. But instead of at least making an effort, he ignores his children – save for his daughter, and sleeps around getting drunker and fatter by the year. You can’t really fault her for having issues if you ask me.

Jaime? Cersei loves to spend time with him, which is evident by their two sons.

Tommen? Is mostly ignored, because Cersei devotes the majority of her time to

Joffrey – who, in her mind, is the true heir to the Iron throne. Lineage be dammed.

As for Myrcella? Cersei was ready to hate her from the moment she was conceived. Myrcella’s very existence was a slight to her efforts to ensure she wouldn’t bear anymore of her husband’s children. But then maternal instincts kicked in and she couldn’t lose a second child.

Over the years, Myrcella slowly won her mother’s respect by proving to be underhanded and manipulative – getting the sword fighting lessons that Cersei herself had always wanted and bending Robert to her will. The main clincher for Cersei is when Myrcella straight up saw her en flagrante with Jaime and wasn’t even the slightest little bit inclined to tell anybody or hold it over her head.

In Cersei’s mind, Myrcella may look like her father in coloring, but she is similar to herself in temperament, and so Cersei quite likes her daughter.

When it comes to Jon, Cersei isn’t so pleased about her daughter getting married, she sees Jon as a bit of a threat - but that is really dependent on how Jon acts. So far, she’s seen a boy who damn well knows the girl he’s engaged to is above him in station and so that tempers Cersei’s budding fury a little. She is amused by Ghost, and sees him as yet another weapon to defend her daughter.

Don’t get me wrong, she’s downright furious with Robert, but she’s willing to play nice with the boy in order to see her daughter happy.
