Thoughts about Esper Reigen
As an so far âAnime-onlyâ fan of Mob Psycho I understand and love how Reigen doesnât have any psychic powers. Despite Reigenâs flaws heâs... Mobâs anchor, in a way. Heâs the one who reminds Mob he isnât so different from everyone else after all, and that itâs okay to relay on adults, and that Mob shouldnât need to fight if he doesnât want to. Reigen might not have any psychic powers, but he has the power of words and being one of the few reliable adults in Mobâs life (which is both ironic and beautiful, considering how Reigen started of as just a con-man). x)
However at the same time I canât help but to imagine how hilarious it would be if Reigen unknowingly was a powerful Esper. Maybe he âblocked and forgotâ about them because of a trauma or something, but imagine how absolutly hilarious it would be if Reigen unknowingly had powerful psychic powers???
Picture Reigen, before meeting Mob, accidentally exorcising real ghosts (etc) he canât see because he has âblockedâ his memories and most of his powers, or thinking theyâre just bad âmagic tricksâ and stuff. Psychic powers doesnât exist after all, right? And then after meeting Mob he letâs his new student take care of most ârealâ exorcisms, because Reigen doesnât know/remember he has powers himself.Â
Imagine how hilarious it would be if Reigenâs lie about being so powerful the normal Espers canât feel his own powers being true, because he blocked them, so everyone (including Reigen himself) except for Mob thinks heâs a fraud.Â
(Mobâs full power would still be more powerful than Reigen, which is why he can feel Reigenâs powers). Imagine Mob being the only one who can see Reigenâs powers (in the beginning?). Picture Reigen still being this con-man reyling on Mob, because he doesnât know he has powers of his own. Imagine the hilariosity of Reigen sometimes accidentally letting out some of his own powers, but keep thinking itâs just Mob who helps him out.
It would be hilarious if we kept going through the series with more and more hints of Reigen actually having powers, and Reigen just not realizing it. Accidentally exorcises a ghost/spirit? âDidnât you have any better tricks?â Accidentally gets up a shield to protect Mob from a surprise attack? âWell done, Mob/Ritsu/Teru!â
Just... Imagine the hilarious frustration and confusion from everyone else as it becomes increasingly clear throughout the series that Reigen actually has psychic powers; and in the end everyone except Reigen himself knows. xD
Again though, I love that Reigen doesnât have psychic powers. This is just my thoughts in general how hilarious it would be if Reigen DID unknowingly have powers. xD

Bonus, for some thoughts and/or angst:Â - Imagine that nagging feeling in Reigenâs head when he begins to see psychic powers (again) daily. That nagging feeling of recognizing this - knowing what everything is and does - but waving it away as his imagination. He doesnât have powers and hadnât seen any before Mob enetered his life, after all. Really.Â
- Imagine Reigen giving Mob advice, and getting a weird feeling itâs advice he had wanted himself while growing up. Picture Reigen not understanding or knowing why he gets this feeling.Â
- Imagine Reigenâs power beginning to âleak throughâ his block after the first fight against Claw, after Mob shared his powers with Reigen. (Which would be why he suddenly can see Dimple).
- Imagine if Reigenâs only reason for âawakeningâ his powers again was because one day heâs too late to save Mob from getting (badly?) hurt in a particular bad fight. Picture Reigen immediatly reaching a 1000% rage/murderous intent. Reigein isnât able to snap out of it by himself, and after the villains are defeated... It doesnât end until Mob finally wakes up and then somehow manages to snap Reigen out of it.Â

âGrace is always present. You imagine it is something somewhere high in the sky, far away, and has to descend. It is really inside you, in your Heart, and the moment you effect subsidence or merger of the mind into its Source, grace rushes forth, sprouting as from a spring within you. â

The Rebel Bohemian Club
When I Grow Up I want to be a Chinook salesman to the Rebel Bohemian Club, to the Fat War Generals whose Future Heathcliff Statues in city parks are yet to be carved from a Great Red Mountain of Pale Marble Sorrow.
When I Grow Old I want to feast on an Anorexic Love that slopes lean and thin: a forgotten archaism; like French Harpsichord music or a Forest Lute concerto, absolutely unnecessary for our unabolished Microwaved Battles and surplus Army Ammunitions; moody bullets and zealous powders sulking in a granite bunker, distressed by misuse.
Some may stare at my Taut-Skin-Soulâ Liposuctioned War-Fat Mind; Reinvented Skull; my overuse of noisy Poetic Semicolons that speak Unchangeable Hope against the social Zeal of Hate; and, of course, that Holy Gun I have never owned, yes, thatâs right, the one with the White Diamond Daisy stubbornly not growing in its Serpentine-Metal Hairâthe art of an Old Wisdom, and an even Older Magic that shamelessly flaunts a belief in Planetary Peace.
When I Grow Dead I want all my long decades of Adolescent Theory to smile wide, to rehearse their old Courageous Faults about desperately trying to stay potent, young, and true. âI tried hard to be a Human, Â phony Second-Hand Thoughts, a smiling Refugee Smile wishing for starlight, a well of Private Tears trying to define freedom, Spiritual Depth the size of trendy puddles, (and of course, those Braided and Wildfire Semicolons burning across my lifeâs erratic Page of Poetry.)
I absolutely failed at Never Dying, but now I am no longer trying, all I can hear is the Shaman Moon crying, âLove is Oxygen, Love is Oxygen, a Glimmer Splash, a Storyteller of Magic am I for all your weighty Soul-Footprints in the Mud of an Oozy Existence of Anger and Unease.â
