in Miyake’s spring/summer 1971 debuted in new york with his body tights collection. He printed Japanese-style tattoo like images of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin onto skin-colored clastic material. twenty years later, Issey Miyake introduced the “tattoo body” the texture almost looks as though a real tattoo were engraved on the body, as if you were tattooing on cow leather. the combination of the elasticity of the synthetic textile and the decorative function of the tattoo, an art practiced since ancient times, which looks very reminiscent of african traditional patterns. created something that can be considered a new type of skin.
