Avilotl and I were at a local diner (it's really good tbh, they make the food from scratch and give huge portions for pretty cheap, and most proceeds go to foster homes bc the owner was a foster kid) and the place is PRETTY social. Like, there aren't too many seats away from the bar that get touched, everyone just sits at the bar by the kitchen because the place pulls a lot of social anxiety out of ye (weird concept but it's pretty true)
A man sits next to us, it's his first time there and he seems pretty excited. I'm honestly excited for him, the diner is fucking amazing and I rate it 5 stars tbh. Either way, a waiter saw my wallet (it has my dnd kenku Bash on it) and asked about Bash, as I brought up dnd the man sitting next to us perks up and we start a pretty lively conversation about games, both video and tabletop, telling stories about sessions and experiences etc.
What I'll never forget tho, is what he brought up as he was about to leave. Dude is so fucking valid for this.
He comes up to us and says "of course I've played a lot of video games. I played the original Diablo when it was NEW. But I have to say my favorite game of all time, nothing can beat it... Minecraft. It's got SO much going for it. Yeah it has building but it can also be the scariest thing you experience. Creeper explodes underneath you? You could be falling straight into lava and that's the end. Crazy shit."
What an actual fucking legend tbh.
