CryptoPunk 7557, one of the 55 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the collection that sports a tiara, was sold at more than 99% discount for ETH 4.444 (USD 19,000 at the time of writing) possibly due to a mistake on Monday. In either case, the hype around NFTs is cooling down once again. Per Larva Labs, the developer of CryptoPunks, the latest tiara punk was traded at ETH 196.69 (USD 828,000) last week, while the cheapest punk of this category was sold for ETH 45 (USD 196,000) back in August, which suggests that the seller possibly listed the NFT at the wrong price. The seller purchased the punk in early July for around ETH 60 (USD 135,000). Two months later, they offered it for ETH 8,880 (USD 31m). Since the punk did not sell at that price, the owner withdrew the offer yesterday and issued another offer: ETH 4.44. Possibly, the owner intended to submit an ETH 4,440 price tag, half of the prior offer, but they mistakenly proposed a much lower price. The buyer, confronting an over 99% discount on a rare punk, hoovered it up instantly, even paying an ETH 3.33 priority fee to ensure they are getting the NFT before anyone else. The new owner has since put the punk on sale, asking for ETH 325 (USD 1.4m), which is still the lowest price for a punk with a tiara. The majority of surveyed game developers are exploring using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain in new games, and find that these innovations have the potential to add value and create more engaging player experiences, a recent survey by the blockchain platform Stratis (STRAT) reveals. The survey, conducted by the insight agency Opinium among 197 game developers based in the US and the UK, found that 58% of respondents are beginning to use blockchain technology, while 47% have already incorporated NFTs into their games. Revealing a notable appetite for these technologies, 72% of game developers expressed their interest in using NFTs and blockchain in new games, with 56% saying they plan to do so in the next year. Meanwhile, 64% argue that blockchain technology will become widespread in video gaming within the next two years. Adobe is launching a system built into Photoshop that can, among other things, help prove that the person selling an NFT is the person who made it. It’s called Content Credentials, and NFT sellers will be able to link the Adobe ID with their crypto wallet, allowing compatible NFT marketplaces to show a sort of verified certificate proving the art’s source is authentic. According to a Decoder interview with Adobe’s chief product officer Scott Belsky, this functionality will be built into Photoshop with a “prepare as NFT” option, launching in preview by the end of this month. Belsky says attribution data created by the Content Credentials will live on an IPFS system. IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) is a decentralized way to host files where a network of people are responsible for keeping data safe and available, rather than a single company (somewhat similar to how torrent systems work). The necessary patents for the required technology, which protect the business interests of the multinationals involved, have already been filed. Are NFT-powered donations the new Future? NFT powered donations gains a lot of traction nowadays. One such project is Care Package, which is launched by Jack Butcher, the founder of Visualize Value, which describes itself as “the operating system for value creators.” Care Package is a charity campaign that seeks to raise funds for Afghan families in need using the Ethereum (ETH)-based blogging platform Mirror. The campaign offers a single "CARE Package for Afghanistan" NFT edition for ETH 0.03 (USD 114) and 10 for ETH 0.28 (USD 1,062). The single edition package, which contained a total of 1,000 NFTs, has already sold out while there are still plenty of 10x care packages. A report by the World Bank claims that people are more likely to donate when they are incentivized — i.e., they are ensured they would receive something in return.
