Uh, so. I really like Sonos, and I really like Corcoran, and I really super like them together? Theyāre nemeses, sort of. Low-key. Sheās my favorite supervillain daughter, and heās my (surprisingly) favorite federal agent man, and this is the chapter in which I upgraded his descriptor fromĀ āfederal agentā toĀ ālong-suffering federal agent.ā Please have a snippet and love them too.
Sonos breathes out, and sound returns. She flicks the folder shut, stands, and grins. āWelp, thatās all I needed to know. Thanks a million, Connie. I wonāt tell anyone about our huddle up if you donāt.ā
He shakes his head, just once. Heāll have to have a discussion with the receptionist. āThe file, please.ā
āOh, no, this is mine now. Theyāre just prints. I know youāve got the digitals still. You can say I stole them.ā
āThatās what youāre doing.ā
āYeah, but you can say it like you put up a fight and lost, instead of letting me walk out with them. Again: I wonāt tell if you donāt. Promise.ā
He pinches the bridge of his nose. He canāt actually stop her, of course. Not here, and not now. āThis doesnāt change anything.ā
āOh, I know. Soundproof box, serve time for my crimes, etcetera, etcetera. Aware. And I fully intend to continue to be a pain in your ass, so youāve got that to look forward to, although Iām sure this was my single shot at unexpected office hours. Thatās all right. Iāll come up with something clever for next time, too. Until then: Ciao!ā

i have filled my first NaNo notebook. it is 100 pages, and contains approximately 62,317 words. i have 6 chapters left out of my original 37. i am on page 102.
Also, I like to ramble about my beloveds, so this got long, so Iām putting it under a cut (assuming Iām technologically literate enough to figure out how XD)
4.Ā A character you rarely talk about?
Okay, so ironically I donāt think Iāve ever talked about Alicia on here, which is funny because she is my First Character⢠and I Love Her. Sheās who baby Alison wrote when I was twelve, and Alicia was also twelve, and she was basically me (obviously). Sheās still ⦠probably closest to me, but sheās her own person now, and I love her dearly. Sheās from Near Future Earth (the storyās called Hover City Q, currently, and Iām proud of the worldbuilding), and sheās a lovable juvenile delinquent whoās buddies with half the police force because they canāt not like her (even though they frequently have to detain her because she does Illegal Shenanigans in the name of freedom? I think? The plot still needs work lol but I do so love the whole cast). Sheās a computer whiz, and hates school, and sleeps too late, and wears bright yellow shoes, and has a troubled past with the foster care system but has acquired The Best Family (read: little bio sister, older non-bio foster brother, best foster mom in the history of the world), and is sarcastic to a fault, and sheās my first favorite, so itās a shame that I donāt talk about her, but Iām just not quite sure where her story is because sheās been such an integral part of my writing existence.
10.Ā Introduce an OC with a complicated design?
Honestly, Iām not entirely sure what this question means? I feel like it might have a basis in video games or art, which is not where my OCs come from. But I think the most ācomplicatedā physically is Mo, whoās from Angel Wings.Ā Sheās five, and sheās a human-avian hybrid child. But not, like, angel-body type human-avian hybrid child: Sheās got a human head and neck and face, but also prehensile monkeyesque feet because instead of arms sheās got enormously oversized wings that donāt fold neatly and she ends up rocking on to locomote. Sheās ⦠kind of a mess, honestly, but she is a happy and well-loved semi-flight-capable child. Just awkward. And feathery. And, yes, her description needs work in the current manuscript. Itās a Work In Progress lol.
11.Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a āsunshineā?
I mean, I have a character whoās actual real life name is Sunny Songādoes she count? She could, possibly. I do so love her. She has sunshiny tendencies. But, flip side, sheās also a supervillain, so ⦠maybe not.
Alternatively, we have Misha, whoās two and Adorable, or Jessie, whoās Aliciaās twelve-year-old sister. ApparentlyĀ āsunshineā in my head meansĀ āwonderful little siblingsā (Luciusās and Aliciaās, respectively).
23.Ā Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
Confession time: I have a systemic problem with First Draft Baddies Not Actually Being Baddies. Like ⦠itās bad. Really bad. Everyone I thinkĀ is an honest to badness villain just isnāt. Theyāre not horrible people once you get to know them. Then I have to write the actualĀ villain in subsequent drafts, so itās a Process.
Case in point: Lucius, yāknow, my feathers son? My seventeen-year-old genetic hybrid protagonist whom I love? He was the secondary villain in the first draft of Angel WingsĀ many moons ago. He was not a nice dude. He was human-shaped then, too, not feathers son shaped, and, like, stereotypical sadist mercenary type. But, oops, just kidding, turns out heās the good guy, and heās not a grown up heās a teenager, and heās not human shaped he has wings too (well, not entirely human shapedāhuman plus wings, hence the no-longer-applicable title).
Of the literal dozens of stories Iāve written at this point, I think the only time I got the baddie right on the first time was Soren, from Aschar and Terrwynās world. So I always tryĀ to write good baddies, but it takes a couple drafts to sort out whoās actually bad and whoās just unpleasant. Nikolai? Science dad. Grigori? Begrudging non-science uncle (who, granted, still has some abusiveish tendencies probably). Hank? Invites Arterio over for lunch regularly after enabling him to save himself. Conan? Actually likes Lucius too. Fredrick? Supportive cop uncle to delinquent Alicia. Sonos? Lolol yeah right. Rampage? Just wants to give her mom a good life and smash some squad cars. Ratman? Wants to save the world. I just ⦠Iām bad at bad guys, okay? At least in the first draft.
24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?
This is. Such. A hard. Question! Hmm. Two routes of thinking lead to two different answers:
a. Sonos! I love her! I want her to know it! Sheās just such a fun person, and such a lovable supervillain, and coming out of AverageĀ headspace, Iād love to spend a heist with her cuz I think itād be awesome. And then I could tell her that she is loved, and I understand her, and sheās not alone, and sheāll be okay.
b. Alternatively, if I could ensure my safety, Iād also like to spend an afternoon with Desh from Angel WingsĀ strictly so I could pick his brain. Heās one of my Honest To Badness Baddiesāmy hulking human-tiger hybrid supersoldier who tries to steal the Avian Initiative which means stealing Lucius and Science Dad and Bird Sister and forcing them to do the science for Other Baddiesābut I donāt really get him just yet. Iām still figuring out where he came from, and why he is Like This, and Iād like to meet him and chat about it but also heās high-key terrifying and could crush me like an empty pop can without thinking about it, or heād think about it only as long as it took him to realize that heād enjoy it and because of that heād try to crush me slowly so I could scream longer. So Iād need a safety net of some sort to meet Desh, but I think it would be Helpful at this stage in my drafting.
( ⦠also I have Most Definitely inserted myself into mind movies featuring the RegularsāAlicia, Arterio, Lucius, and Ascharāand thatās always cute. But I feel like theyāre basically me, so meeting them is Not Necessary because we are the same.)
~~
Again, thank you so much for asking! I love rambling about All My People, and I have So Many of them. If anyone has more questions, please hit me up, because any excuse is a good excuse to gush on the internet about the people who live in my head, right? Right.
The chittering does not subside, but it quiets, melds with the gentle purr of the engine, hums comfortably. Rackham feels both in his chest, coupled with anticipation. Not yet.
But very soon.
I tag @midstorycrisis and anyone else who wants in! And if you want me to start tagging you in writing games like this, feel free to drop me an ask and I totally can!

November 30: NaNo Update. The book is both completely written and completely typed, in 29 days. The final page count is 283, and the final word count is 82,313. I wrote it in 18 days and typed it in 7, with a couple days of wrist break between.
I started handwriting my NaNos in 2013, and this is the first year that I: 1.) completed the manuscript early, and 2.) managed to finish typing the whole thing in November instead of December or later. This is a long way away from the 2013-14 barely scraping the 50k NaNo goal by hand in November, writing into December, and typing into January, and I'm pleased with my first draft!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be icing my wrists, hibernating, and inhaling other people's fiction for a month to recover. Thanks for tuning in!
For the ask game: 7, 8, 28, and 42 for whoever you want!
Oh wow sorry this took fourteen hundred years, but thank you so much for asking! Referencing this post! Iām doing them for Sonos my supervillain daughter whom I love, because the first one has sounds in it and I canāt get her out of my head. And, also, last-minute NaNo Prep.
07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)?Ā
She has an Ominous Sound Effect she uses for dramatic entrances, like one out of a movie. Her superpowers are All Things Sound Related, so sheās always acutely aware of anything sound-related. Her OSE is Very Intentionalā¢, and Very Dramaticā¢, and she uses it whenever possible because it freaks people out.
08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?
Aside from the whole supervillainy thing: Sheās really atrocious at boundaries. Like, when she tries to be thoughtful and make friends, she overshoots into creepy territory pretty fast by virtue of knowing too many things (because trust issues and caution on her part. Secret identities are rough, man). She doesnāt get that itās Weird, or Too Much, so Iām gonna have to go with oblivious on that front.
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for?
Music, definitely.
42. Is there anything in your characterās past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?
Oooh. Good question. She tends to live her life now in a way to minimize regrets and hauntings, because her philosophy is that regrets generally come from actions not taken instead of the opposite. So recent past, not really. Further back than that, Iām unsure. There might be some family stuff she wishes she could change, but since I donāt actually know anything about her family, still, Iām not positive on this one. Get back to me once I start writing book three and maybe Iāll have a more conclusive answer.
