Rise of Kyoshi definitely has more of a Legend of Korra vibe in terms of tone than ATLA. Unsurprisingly, I see some similarities between Kyoshi and Korra, but more so in the later half of the book for Kyoshi as she definitely starts out very different from Korra. It definitely felt like it existed in the ATLAverse. And overall, I was a big fan. I don't think any character quite makes me go 'you are a horrible idiot (affectionate)' like a lot of the things books I read because of you, but it does have some interesting grey area stuff going on that was fun. It's still YA, but given that about half of the YA I have been trying lately has fallen flat for me due in part because of simplicity, I really enjoyed pretty much all of this.
