Finding a MASSIVE Abandoned Gold Mine Deep in the Washington Mountains! 🪓⛏️ I headed out about an hour and a half west of Lynnwood, Washington for an off-grid mountain hike. What started as an old grown-over mountain road turned into an absolute scramble through the rain and thick brush—but the detour was completely worth it. Deep off the beaten path, guided only by some old surveyor flags and a warning tape that literally said "DANGER," I stumbled right onto a massive abandoned mine. Most of the test shafts I’ve seen before are barely human-sized, but this cavernous opening was big enough to fit a semi-truck! Unfortunately, the main entrance was completely caved in from years of collapse, but you can still see the ancient structural wooden bracing and what looks like blue copper or mineral veins running right through the rock face. After getting stuck in some brutal thorn bushes trying to forge a trail back down, I even found massive concrete foundations near the river and old railroad ties—suggesting this was a massive old mining operation. Note: I forgot the exact name of this specific trailhead before losing reception, so I will update the history and location details right here as soon as I can look it up! When AllTrails Fails... (An Accidental Mountain Adventure) Headed up to the mountains today to find Gee Point Trail in the Scout, but things didn't exactly go to plan! With zero cell reception and a completely hidden trailhead, AllTrails left me guessing. Instead of turning around and heading home, the adventurous side of me took over. I kept driving down the minimum maintenance roads, spotted a few parked cars, and ended up on a heavily overgrown, lesser-traveled path—possibly Lookout Mountain Trail. After navigating some thick brush, doing a little crawling, and putting my legs to the test on a serious incline, I finally hit 6,000 feet of elevation. The views of the snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys were absolutely unbelievable. They say this is "God's country," and standing up here, it's hard to argue with that!
