AutomationRecorder Envelope Follower
AutomationRecorder Envelope Follower is a new Max For Live device that records Ableton Live's stock Envelope Follower device output into a tangible envelope.
AutomationRecorder Envelope Follower is a NEW addition to the AutomationRecorder family.
Simply set the Envelope Follower to taste, print it to automation, and edit as you’d like.
AutomationRecorder was invented by Christopher Warner, a.k.a Krypt1k. His invention pioneered a series of one of a kind Max For Live devices capable of capturing data into an Ableton Live automation envelope.
AutomationRecorder V. 2.2 Update
Update 2.2:
New button to prevent the randomize button from selecting the "Random" and "Bin" waveforms during randomization.
Critical bug fixes for windows users are included in this update. Fixed a bug that prevented functional use of the step sequencer!
Key benefits of using AutomationRecorder
The possibilities Max For Live provides is incredible. Overwhelming, to be honest. I have a plethora of ideas I believe can revolutionize the way people interact with and create music. My obsession lies in programming devices that are aestheticly pleasing, exact, and open up new ways to accomplish the painstaking tasks that modern electronic musicians are challenged with quicker, more effectively, and more efficiently. In a way though that does not kill creativity, but nurtures it. I want to be inspired by the software I use, I create these devices to solve limitations and frustrations I have experienced in my musical production endevours. So, onto AutomationRecorder.
Why? AutomationRecorder mimics the LFO included in Ableton Live 9 Max for Live essentials in its core functionality. The main attraction is the fact that it can write itself into an automation envelope. As of now, I haven't found a way to automate the process of transferring (copying and pasting) the envelope onto the mapped parameter. This would be perfect, but the device by nature pushes the Live API to its limits. This may change in the future as Ableton Live evolves. Although the copy and pasting effort is required, having the envelope in a tangible form gives you the benefit of slicing up the clips in arrangement view thus creating new modulation possibilities. Stay tuned for some secret features to be revealed in the next big update.
