I just feel like in the history of autism research and diagnostic practice she is the only person who didn’t advocate for us to be abused, incarcerated in inhumane asylums, or obfuscate the presentation of the condition for her own professional gain. I was diagnosed at a Lorna Wing Center, and I was treated so well and had such an amazing experience there (I’m not going to stop talking about that am I) that I feel like she has been robbed of her rightful recognition for her contribution to autism diagnostic practice. But the rainbow brain and infinity symbol are both extremely cool. Of the two I think I prefer the infinity symbol. As a newly diagnosed autistic person I was able to avoid becoming attached to the puzzle piece due to the awareness raising efforts of the autistic community concerning both its history, and current association with the US charity Autism Speaks.
