In simple, this John finds himself in a different version of reality where his friends are different to what he's used to. For some reason, Egbert is now John, Strider is now Dave? Lalonde's become Jade, and Harley's now Rose. It's all so weird to him, but at least he's got a place to crash while he figures things out.

This new John he's found, however, seems to have experienced something like this before. Although he was never shifted to a different reality, he had interactions with an array of different versions of people he knew, and other people he'd never met before that seemed to be from different planets too...though perhaps they were from different realities too.

With no ideas on how to get him back, and only a slim possibility of even finding his old friends, all John Strider can really do is...wait. And deal with whatever nonsense Egbert forces him into.
