Y'ALL. THIS COOKIE. Okay, so when I saw the @cookiewookiekitchen flavors for March, this, the Yuzu Pepper, is the one I was most excited for. I love yuzu and I really like yuzu kosho but I'm also specifically fond of black pepper and I like it combined with sweet flavors (fresh ground black pepper on really good vanilla ice cream is an EXPERIENCE) so I knew this was going to be really good. IT WAS. The yuzu condensed milk drizzle on top is potently citrus-zingy, the cookie itself is a little more delicately citrusy. The prickles of black pepper give it kind of a sharp effervescence but I don't think it's strong enough to put off someone who hadn't considered the combination before. It's @cookiewookiekitchen time!!!! When I got the newsletter with a sneak peek at the March flavors I was really excited to try them - there was a Shamrock Shake inspired mint flavor and a Yuzu Pepper flavor that both sounded incredible! There's also an Irish soda bread flavor that sounded interesting but it was the other two that really had my attention. And don't they look delicious? I would have had a hard time deciding which to try first but the Shamrock smelled so good even without warming it up that the choice was made for me (plus I was longing for a Shamrock Shake and haven't been able to get one). The minty goodness was just right! The cookie was buttery, just a little chewy, and wonderfully minty with Andes pieces so there were little hits of chocolate in there too. One last flavor from my @cookiewookiekitchen order - black sesame cookies and cream! This one is a regular flavor, not one of the ones that is just for this month, and I am VERY GLAD of that! It's amazing, with crushed chocolate wafer bits and the yummy nutty sesame flavor, which go together REALLY WELL (and also got me fantasizing about a cookie with halvah bits). There's something really satisfying about this one! I couldn't wait any longer for that @cookiewookiekitchen chocolate covered strawberry cookie so I warmed it up in the toaster oven and OMG. It smelled incredible and tasted even better - SUPER chocolatey with zingy strawberry bits and how perfect looking is that strawberry on top??? Seriously if you are in #austin and want to send a #valentines sweet treat to a loved one, go with this (unless, of course, they don't like strawberries or have a dietary restriction). COOKIES! @evesears1949 and I went in on an order from the always splendid @cookiewookiekitchen 😊 I was super excited to see that one of this month's flavors was a kulfi inspired flavor with pistachio, cardamom, saffron and rosewater! I had actually just been daydreaming about how good a cardamom-rose @cookiewookiekitchen cookie would be before I found out that it was one of February's flavors so I HAD to try it 🤤🤤🤤 and unsurprisingly it is amazing. The pistachio was the most prominent to me, with the cardamom, saffron, and rosewater giving a harmonious support of rich flavor that went well with the buttery light chewiness of the cookie (warmed up of course 😎). It was fantastic and a real boost on a day when I was feeling low. So last night in the name of self-care I splurged on an order from @cookiewookiekitchen ! (And I just had a really distressing phone call so I am super grateful to Past Me for being so thoughtful!) Two of them are Ovaltine flavor, two are Black Sugar Boba, and two are Vietnamese Coffee, so kind of a beverage themed box I guess 😊 I warmed one of the Ovaltine ones (in the microwave because I have a pot of simmering chili in the slow cooker currently blocking the toaster oven) right away. It was just what I hopefully imagined when I first saw @cookiewookiekitchen post about them! A large, thin, chewy cookie, a little crisp at the edges, with a not-too-sweet kind of malty Ovaltine flavor and lots of bit sweet chocolate chunks, just delicious and comforting and wonderful.
