Only mildly related but one thing that will always make me immediately discount anyone's Austen opinions is when they have just a flat dismissal of Mrs Bennet as a 'silly woman' with no nuance, just straight up accepting the text at face value, doubly so if they then clearly think Mr Bennet is a good guy.
I'm in the Fanny Price Defence Squad but I am also very much in the Mary Crawford Defence Squad. Sorry I'm very powerful.
when critics are like 'fanny price is a difficult heroine to like' i simply say 'skill issue.' sorry I'm built different (has empathy for disabled people)
I watched the 1999 Mansfield Park a few weeks ago while I was halfway through reading the book for class and I was like 'wow this sucks so bad this is nothing lol' and now I've done a total 180 I'm like 'this is so cool and epic actually fuck yeahhh' it actually rocks.

Henry Crawford, coming to Mansfield Park and seeing Maria and Julia: hooray 2 hot people to flirt with :)
Mary Crawford, coming to Mansfield Park and seeing Edmund and Fanny: hooray two nerds to flirt with :)
Caroline Bingley haters she's literally just got that hustle.... what else is she supposed to do???
I know we all hate Lady Catherine de Bourgh but like when she is interrogating Elizabeth about her and her sisters' education I kinda feel she has a point...? Like they didn't have a governess and their mother didn't really school them much they were left to their own devices a lot and yes Lady Catherine is super rude about in her manner but it's not wild to be like 'you girls should have had an education' ?? My only thought is that since Pride & Prejudice is obviously so concerned with women's upbringing and education maybe the scene is suggesting that the usual women's education of the time is so insufficient that not having it actually doesn't matter that much after all?
