May 13, 1962 Project Mercury astronaut LtCmdr Walter “Wally” Schirra prepares for capsule checkout exercises. Mercury 7 astronaut Schirra was backup pilot for the “Aurora 7″ MA-7 mission assigned to Scott Carpenter. Schirra wore his personal Omega Speedmaster CK2998-4 chronograph on a Komfit Forstner bracelet.
