prompto! Must there be a secret me Iām forced to hide?ā and āI can go the distance.ā
āI cannot hide who I am, though Iāve tried.ā Precious Prom
so i ended up combining these two requests as they were super similar and were easier to fit together. Ā i hope you donāt mind love!
Prompto lay alone in the tent, you and the others still sitting around the fire. Ā Everyone had just finished eating dinner when Prompto announced that he would be heading to bed early. Ā The past week he had been getting caught inside his head more and more, getting lost to the dangerous thoughts that sent him into a tail spin of self doubt. Nobody questioned him about it which he was extremely thankful for, though a part of him did wish that one of you all would have asked what was wrong. Ā The only person he probably would have actually said anything to though was you. Ā As he laid on his sleeping bag, an arm propped behind his head, he remembered the night he told you about everything.
Prompto hadnāt meant to tell you about what he was and where he had been found. Ā If it had been up to him he would have made sure that none of you would ever find out about his past. Ā The whole thing happened after a particularly brutal fight. Ā You all had run out of potions so it had come down to everyone performing a somewhat haphazard first aid on one another. Ā Your injuries hadnāt been bad, luckily, but Prompto had a significant amount of blood running from several abrasions on his arms.
āProm you need to take your gloves and bracelet off so the blood doesnāt dry on them,ā you reasoned. Ā Prompto adamantly shook his head though, insisting that it was fine and that he would take care of it later. Ā You hadnāt let up easily. Ā You continued to tell him that if you couldnāt wash the wounds closer to his bracelet and any on his hands that they might become infected. Ā And gods damn him, Prompto didnāt have the energy to hold out against the mixture of worry and insistence on your face. Ā Heād agreed begrudgingly but had insisted that the two of you move a little farther away from the others.
The blonde had been toying with the idea of telling you about everything for a while ā he felt he owed it to you since the two of you had been dating for over a year at this point. Ā Plus a part of him hoped that having someone else know would help to ease the burden. Ā
When you gingerly took the gloves off, followed by his bracelet you stared for a moment, confused as to what you were looking at. Ā Prompto let you look, but you didnāt end up saying anything, instead going back to cleaning the rest of the drying blood from his arms. Ā Prompto had found the silence more nerve wracking than he would have if youād simply asked the question he knew you wanted to ask, so he began his explanation.
Youād finished what you were doing before heād finished his story, so the two of you were sat opposite each other as he talked. Ā āI hate this secret,ā heād said. Ā āI-I hate having to lie to everyone about this; does there have to be a secret me that Iām forced to hide?ā Ā His head hung low, his blonde locks falling to hide his face. Ā āHa, youāre probably wondering why I bothered telling you any of this,ā he said. Ā āBut I justā¦I canāt hide who I am, even though Iāve tried so so hard, I just canāt do this alone anymore.ā
You hadnāt known what to say in response when Prompto had bared himself to you like this, so all you did was come around so you were seated beside him. You pressed a soft kiss to his temple before leaning your head against his shoulder. Ā
āThanks for listening,ā he said quietly after several minutes had passed.
āThanks for telling me,ā you replied. Ā āIām always gonna be here for you, Prom. Ā Iām not scared of you. Ā And I never will be.ā
