“ sounds  like  something  a  spy  would  say  after  they’ve  already  gathered  intel. ”  he  glanced  over  toward  wherever  they’d  been  watching,  then  back  again,  lowering  his  voice  playfully.  “ alright,  i’ll  bite.  who’s  the  subject ?  the  honeymoon  couple  pretending  they  don’t  hate  each  other ?  or  that  one  guy  who  keeps  trying  to  order  a  ‘vintage  mojito’  like  it’s  wine ? ”

 “ careful  saying  things  like  that  around  me.  i’m  going  to  start  thinking  i’m  the  view. ”  a  beat.  “ unless  you  meant  to  say  that.  in  which  case … ”  he  smirks,  voice  dipping  lower,  “ feel  free  to  get  distracted  anytime. ”

Midori leans back against the wall, the tips of her converse shoes peeking out from beneath the hem of her dress. What the dress code doesn't know won't hurt them. “All these rich people, all these drinks... someone's gotta be making a mistake tonight, right? Think any babies are gonna be made tonight?”
