He smirked at her, tossing one of his jackets at her face. “Just trust me. I know what I’m doing, do you have to question your husband as he takes you out for a night on the town.”
“I like to point out, we’re only going out for four hours, and six isn’t really night,” she tossed her hair over her shoulder, eyeing him. “And yes. I have to always question you, if I didn’t I’d be in situations that I can’t get out of.”
“Which is why I don’t want you asking so many questions,” he grinned, kissing her full on the lips before pulling away, plopping a cozy little hat on her head. “Now help me get these jackets into the car. We don’t want to waste the entire night.”
“You really worry sometimes.”
“Shh. I’m being mysterious and romantic.”
“Ohhhh,” Augustine stared with wide eyes, her breath coming out in soft puffs of cloudy air. “This is why you wanted all those jackets,” she grinned up at Jacob, who grinned back, waving a hand.
“It’s Christmas, and I figured if we don’t have snow, we can still at least do something chilly,” He chuckled, getting them some ice skates. “So, put on another jacket, and we can go skating.”
She giggled, kissing his cheek as she rushed back to the car to get a warmer jacket as he got their skates. When she came back he had his skates on already and she hurried to slip and tie hers up before dragging him onto the ice. Carefully slipping on she giggled as she turned to him, grabbing his hands as he came on after her, stumbling a bit before getting his footing as he chuckled as she skated backward while holding onto his hands. “I didn’t know there was an ice rink near us.”
“I found out about it thanks to Chis,” he smiled, skating closer to her and kissing her gently.
“You were talking to Chis? Oh, are you two finally becoming friends?” She moved so she was skating besides him, arm around his waist as his went around her shoulders, holding her close.
“No. Just in passing, I’m not coming friends with him, ever.”
“You will someday,” she giggled, hugging him tighter before moving away, skating faster. “Race you!”
He shook his head as he hurried up her own skating as she looked back at him, grinning as he raced after her. They went around and around the skate rink till he managed to pass her, laughing. “I’m winning.”
“Nooo!” She grabbed the scarf trailing back off his neck, making him jerk back but continue pulling her along behind.
“Hey, hey, no choking your husband,” he struggled to slip the scarf off as she giggled, skating a bit so it wouldn’t choke him so badly.
She wasn’t expecting him to stop dead to stop the tension and collide straight into his back, sending them falling hard on the ice.
“Ow,” Jacob groaned under Augustine as she struggled up, biting her lip. “Ooh, ducky I’m so sorry, why did you stop?”
“Because,” he rolled over so she was on his chest instead of back, chuckling. “You were choking me. You’re a bit weird at times, you know that Jitters?”
“Only a bit though. You’re weird to,” she smiled, leaning in and kissing him on the lips, her blond curls moving to create a curtain over them. She pulled away softly, kissing his nose gently. “But I love you for it.”
“I love you to,” he chuckled, brushing his hand over her cheek gently. “But we really should get up. My back is freezing.”
She smiled, sitting up and helping him up, slipping her hand in his. “Sorry. Can we come here again. This is… fun.”
“Of course,” he kissed the top of her head. “Anything for you Jitters.”
