pathologist’s profile under the cut as usual
Walking the path of science, Augustine aims to unravel all the mysteries of human body. As she is led by the promise of finding out all the secrets of death, will she remember that curiosity killed the cat?
Augustine Canavan, or the Pathologist, is one of the Survivors.
Gender: Female
Career: Forensic Pathologist
Prop: Empty Syringe
Appearance
A tall woman, appearing even longer due to her slim psychique and a well-fitting lab coat she wears. Her black hair is neatly done in a bun, decorated by a green ribbon. Behind the glasses on her nose one can see her eyes are brown.
Underneath the laboratory attire - coat and thick gloves - she wears a modest white blouse and a long dark green skirt, combined with elegant, but practical black boots reaching the knees.Â
Personality
Although she may appear intimidating, Augustine is actually a very approachable, friendly person. She doesn’t care much about the living, finding the stories of the dead much more interesting, but that doesn’t stop her from being polite and open to social interactions.
She is also rather excitable and full of curiosity, which combined with a lot of energy and dynamic body language causes her to appear almost child-like when interested in something.Â
Augustine adores things that are unique and full of opportunity to research them, causing her to be very protective if someone tries to harm these things. It’s not a bad trait until she attempts befriending the hunters.
Background
Augustine Canavan, raised in a family filled with doctors, was very interested in the mysteries of human body since she was a child. It was no wonder she followed the path of science, graduating with a degree in pathology.Â
Never satisfied with secrets she already uncovered, she kept expanding her areas of interest until she found her final calling after getting appointed as the main forensic pathologist for the local coroner: the mysteries surrounding the process of death.Â
When a letter arrived promising a chance to uncover things no other person ever had a chance of, Augustine didn't need to think twice before embarking on a journey to the Oletus Manor.
External Traits
For Research Purposes: Carries an empty syringe that she can use on the hunter, taking a blood (?) sample violently. It stuns the hunter for a couple of seconds.
No Regrets: She is ready to welcome death like an old friend. Her fear increases very slowly and her time on rocket chair is longer, but it takes her longer to struggle to escape the hunter.
Autopsy: One's downfall is an opportunity for someone else; she gains a movement speed boost anytime one of her teammates gets hit by the hunter.
Full Conclusion:
Augustine Canavan was born to a nurse and a dentist, with her grandparents on both sides also having been practitioners of various fields of medicine. When she was little, instead of children books she read the scientific books her family owned. Many children would be disappointed, but Augustine was no normal child; the family story goes that her first word was "why?" followed by "how?". Both of these words carried her through life, intense curiosity and desire to understand every phenomenon she stumbled upon burning in her without end.
As one might expect, Augustine followed her family's legacy and also pursued education in fields of medicine. Her interest in anatomy led her to pathology, and scientific genius combined with quick and steady hands led her to be renowned for performing perfect autopsy, no matter the state of the deceased. It was only natural that she ended up pursuing forensic pathology and in no time was appointed as the head forensic pathologist of the local coroner office.
But none of it was enough for Augustine Canavan. All her discoveries, research, cases solved largely thanks to her help - none of it satisfied her curiosity, still burning as vivid as many years ago. When her parents mysteriously died and she was the one performing their autopsy, she finally realized what is the thing she wants to give her life for: to understand everything about the process of death and what happens after it.
No one noticed the additional marks on the corpses.
No one noticed the research samples that kept growing suddenly.
No one noticed how her laboratory kept growing.
When she started to wonder if the living may hold the answers, a letter arrived. It promised her a chance to understand everything about death and what comes after, while also offering a financial reward perfect to expand research.
Without thinking twice, Augustine Canavan embarked for the Oletus Manner, determined to see her goals realized, even at the cost of her own death.
Trivia:
Augustine has no idea when her birthday is, as her family never celebrated any birthdays. She finds it a bit strange people care so much about being alive.
She appears very suspicious, but never actually did anything illegal or inhumane. Yet.
She enjoys dressing up and owns an extensive dress collection that she dearly misses at the Manor.
She is extremely smart and perceptive, but doesn’t use it outside her research.Â
Short conversations are best with Augustine; any longer one usually ends up with her talking about not pleasant topics like illnesses, death causes, corpses, and generally murder. As much as she is full of joy and has the most adorable, excited expression on… That’s very disturbing.
She is pretty rich and spends money without second thought.
