“No. No. It won’t work if you’re not holding still.” It was her own laughter, and her own drunkness, though, that caused her to lose balance. Still, she blamed him. “What did I tell you?”

“Now these,” Bertie held up a pão de queijo. “I’ve been eating almost every day.”

“Alright.” James looked left, then right. He could see a guard in both directions. He pulled out his invisibility cloak. “Get under.”

Benjy straightened his pastel pink uniform and smiled his this-job-is-killing-me-but-I’m-paid-to-be-polite smile. “Hi, how can I help you?” 

“I know it’s a bad idea to switch songs at the last minute, but what if no one here gets Shirley Bassey?”

Asher still wasn’t completely convinced, but he figured if he was going to try and create a life for himself, he might as well start there. “Fine, then it’s settled. I’ll make a respectable person out of myself.”
