audrick ellriech is a first generation american born to jewish german immigrants. he’s a trans man and a vocal activist for lgbt and mutant rights. his mutation is fire manipulation.

his mutant abilities became apparent when he saved his family from a house fire when he was thirteen. he walked through the fire untouched and controlled the flames to make a path for his parents and younger sister. no one else witnessed his abilities, so his parents made it their first priority to make sure it stayed that way. audrick was pulled out of school and was homeschooled by his parents for the rest of high school. 

as soon as he left home, he sought out others in the lgbt community of new york city. he found friends, and through these friends he was brought into the drag scene. he started making a living as a waiter and bartender during the week and as a queen on the weekends.

his status as a mutant became publicly known when the club he was performing at was the target of a hate crime and a bomb was set off in the bathrooms. audrick immediately began to attempt blocking the flames from growing while patrons and fellow performers fled. despite being responsible for saving dozens of lives, most people he knew cut him out of their lives.

after this he was approached by xavier to join the x-men. audrick accepted immediately, happy to fight to protect those weaker than him. he adopted the name Friendly Fire because he mainly uses his powers for defensive purposes.
