Aughnanure Castle. Sept 2010. 

On our way back from our road trip up N59, we turned off at a sign for Castle Auchnanure.. then drove for what seemed like a few miles before reaching a parking lot.

We walked along a stone path, with low stone walls, with only trees as our company. Then we looked to the left and noticed a moat. Turned a corner, and there was an imposing wall and above that loomed the tower of the castle itself.
