I'm very honored to be part of the current edition of "Antagonismos" Magazine. Edition No. 10. Our article explores the emergent area of Artificial Intelligence and Urban Design: "SPAN has developed a specific technique, harnessing the ability of Neural Style transfer not to just create a mash-up between existing cities (and thus interrogating the underlying rulesets in terms of its material and symbolic culture) but expanding it to their own inherent sensibilities. Historically SPAN has shown an acute interest in patterns and ornaments. This curiosity emerged out of the critical interrogation of the relationship of Adolf Loos to the contemporary project in which the claims of Adolf Loos have lost their edge, due to technological, cultural, and social developments. Breaking away from the traditional assumption in Architecture about patterns as appliquĂŠ to volumetric objects, but rather exploring the organizational and the esthetic value inherent in these geometrical configurations. Projects such as Barcelona Recursion, Recursion III, and Blocks are evidence in SPANâs oeuvre for an obsession with Algorithmically generated textures that are interrogated for their architectural qualities." #architecture #AttnGAN #estrangement #realism #artificialintelligence #authorship #neuralnetworks #neuralarchitecture #gan #generativeadversarialnetworks #urbandesign #styletransfer #AI (at Detroit, Michigan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNVXjs4M92Q/?igshid=xcig9v6onxb5
