I stuffed my toothpaste and deodorant into the suitcase and snapped it closed. "ABE!! I'm heading out!" I called out, heading down the hall. "Y/N!! Oh, we'll miss you sweetheart, call me when you get there and tell Haru to take care of himself!" Mom came trotting from the kitchen, giving me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Mooom I'll be fine! You don't gotta worry about me, if anything, I'm excited to see all the yokai. I wonder if ALL yokai are real or only some of them?" I pondered, thinking over the various yokai types and species, some being way weirder than others…like a Shirime. I couldn't help the grimace that crossed my face.

Abe turned the corner and frowned "I'm at least drivin' ya to the docks. I'm not too keen on this whole thing ya know." Abe grumbled, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he shoved his feet in his shoes, ready to head out the door.

I smiled at Abe, he was a worry wart, not nearly as bad with me as he is Haru, but he does still care a lot. It's kept Haru and I safe plenty of times, so I guess I can't knock it if it helps.

-10 hour boat trip later-

I finally reached the island, I swear the boat ride felt so much longer than necessary. I stumbled my way down the dock to Haru who was waiting, antennae wiggling excitedly. "Haru!! I see you're still alive, and here you had me thinking I'd be coming to collect your cadaver." I grinned, waving at him. Haru ran and hugged me tightly, nearly too tightly "Y/N!! Im so happy you're here!! How long will you be here? Don't you have school on Monday?" Haru asked, setting me down and grabbing my luggage.

Embarrassment filled me, quickly followed by shame "-Ah! About that…I'm kinda sorta…suspended?" I said, playing with my fingers and hanging my head. "Huh?! What? Why?" Haru asked, his antennae forming a question mark. I rubbed the back of my neck sheepishly "To be fair, I fought a bully to save a classmate but uh, I got caught by a teacher, and since it was a fight that I technically started, and on school grounds no less, I'm off for a week and a half.." I trail off, kicking the rocks at my feet. Haru sighed and placed a hand on my shoulder "I see, well at least you saved your classmate Y/n, Im proud of you for sticking up for your peers, but uh, maybe don't resort to violence?" Haru suggested, a smile sneaking its way onto his face.

I nodded and gave a little salute "yes sir!" I laughed.

"Welcome to Hyakki Academy!! I'm the Japanese teacher and homeroom teacher for Class 2-3!" Haru announced, making a big show of swinging his arms out in front of the school. I laughed and clapped a little "Hooray! Now lets work on actually interacting with your students Haru" I commented cheekily. Haru spent a lot of time his first night at the school texting me all about how he works at a yokai school and how scared he is, how scary his students are. Surely they're just fine, he's a scaredy cat after all.

Climbing so many stairs wasn't my ideal way to spend the day but what other choice is there? "Hello young Y/n" I jumped a little and looked behind us quickly, there on the ground was the top half of a mans body coming out of the floor. I'd seen him a few times around the shrine, always wearing that mask and robe set. I blinked a few times before tilting my head "hey wait…I recognize you!" I hit my fist into my palm, I couldn't remember a name though.. "Principal!!" Haru cried "Why do you always sneak up on me?" He whimpered, hiding behind me.

"Principal? Nice to meet you, I guess you already know my name though. I came to see where Haru will be working, I hope that's not a problem" I say, bowing in respect to the man. I soon saw his feet appear in front of me and stood straight "I don't see why not" the principal said, shaking my hand.

I smiled and nodded "I'll only be here for a few days to a week" I told him, I figure I'll stay with Haru and maybe explore the school while Haru has to work. Principal tilts his head "I see. I'll have a room arranged in the girls' dorm for you then. Stop by for a key after you attend Seimei's class."

"Ah okay, thank you Principal!" I smiled and gave a nod of appreciation. He waved and stepped back "I'll be off now, don't go getting into trouble you two." He lightly taunted as he disappeared back into the floor, off to who knows where. It was strange, but it was my first time seeing a yokai and one using their powers!!

"Eep!" Haru shivered and stepped out from behind me, a tingle seeming to go down his spine. "W-Well, I guess we should c-continue, right?" Haru plastered a big, brave smile on his face and continued to march up the steps. I snickered to myself and trailed after him, my big brother is a scary cat alright.
