⚠️spoiler warning for boueibu season one⚠️

So, after the events of season one, Kinshiro is devastated by how easily manipulated he was, and thinks that it makes him unfit to be the school's president. He needs time to think about all of this, and go study in another school that's far from Binan high or something for a year to give himself a sense of normalcy and figure out what it truly means to be a school president by having the example of that school's president. All he leaves is a note on his desk saying "president Kinshiro chooses death". He only lets the other two student council members that he's in another school, and ask them to not find another president during that time, and keep that information for themselves. Atsushi is obviously very upset by this, thinking Kinshiro died and he couldn't stop it. A year later, Kinshiro comes back to Binan high, and while everyone is relieved, Atsushi is genuinely mad at Kinshiro, and doesn't even want yo hear his explanation at first, until his anger calms down, and while he understands, he's still a bit resentful because he thought he lost his childhood friend right after thinking everything was cleared up.

O: The stars or space

He supposed it was sort of ironic in the end. He could remember stargazing when they were younger, Atsushi pointing skyward and naming the stars, his gaze turned upward in fascination as Kinshiro found his own eyes focusing on the boy beside him. And now it seemed that the stars were just as much a draw to them as they had then, albeit in a wholly different way. The meddling of stars in their own lives just never seemed to end.

Though he supposed there was a small part of him that was grateful for space invaders and strange magic. Things would have continued on as they were otherwise and while the humiliation of it all stung at least he had Atsushi back. He doubted he would ever have him in the way that he wanted but just being as they were… maybe that could be enough for him.

DO I SHIP ATSUKIN?? MAYBE A LITTLE. MAYBE IT'S JUST MY OTP IN BOUEIBU. MAYBE I HAVE MORE THAN A FEW PLOTBUNNIES FOR THEM. IDK MAN. IDK.

Ahem. Anyway.

"Hey, whoa, are you alright there?" Atsushi hadn't even finished the sentence by the time Kinshiro was back on his feet, standing upright though clearly favoring his right foot.

They stared at each other for a long moment, Kinshiro's eyes slowly narrowing as the silence dragged on. His lips came together, pressed into a hard line as he studied Atsushi's open expression. There was kindness there, but carelessness too. An assumption that everyone would be perfectly open about their feelings in spite of having all evidence to the contrary. And so here he was, isolated and hating curry. He felt his lips parting, mouth opening to form the words.

I miss you.

"I’m fine."
