Oh... this plays right into all of my favorite things.

(To clarify: “all of my favorite things” means “Sir Pentious is an actual infamous historical figure.”)

The idea that they didn’t meet until Hell and Alastor’s like “oh! YOU! I tried to summon you once, back in ohhh, ‘22, ‘23?” and Sir Pent is like “oh DID you?? How flattering~” is absolutely delightful.

But. But. Alastor messing around with some high-level magic he thinks ought to work but isn’t totally sure is legitimate, and actually ending up with the demonified soul of the world’s most reviled villain in front of him—oh heck oh damn he shouldn’t have done this in his mother’s parlor, even if the floor back at his own place wasn’t big enough to draw the circle, he should have found an empty lot somewhere—and his first reaction is like,

“Are you a snake??”

And Sir Pent like, “Are you alive??”

Sir Pent wants to know if he’s been summoned for like, a reason, like is this that thing where humans call up demons to make deals, because he's not THAT kind of demon, see, there are the deal-making soul-taking demons and then there are just the guys that used to be humans, but hey if he wants something done maybe Sir Pent can help out if it plays to his strengths, as long as he's here anyway, and Alastor is like “No no, I kinda just wanted to see whether the summoning ritual works—”

“Oh.” :/

“—so I decided, if I’m going to try, might as well be with the most interesting historical figure I could find—”

“Oh?” :)

Well, if Sir Pent is currently on the mortal plane, he's got a list of things he'd like to do. FIRST, he wants to know what his current reputation is like up here on the surface. Like he knows it MUST be good because new arrivals in Hell constantly see him and go aaah, oh nooo, it's sir pentiooous, ruuun, but like he wants to see for himself. Alastor brings him a couple of biographies to peruse ("Did you just happen to already have these?" "Uh. Well. ...... yes.") and manages to sneak him into a theater where a movie's running with a HIGHLY dramatized account of Sir Pent's reign of terror. Sir Pent loves it. He's cackling in glee while other audience members are gasping in terror.

SECOND, he's picking up where he left off, he's taking over Earth. He was working on taking over Hell but, you know, as long as he's back in the neighborhood. So he needs resources to build his machines, he needs intel on the latest surface tech that's been developed since he died—he's kept abreast of modern developments as best he can, but it's so difficult in Hell, people who know about fabulous new weapons tend to die so much sooner than the people who know how to build them—and he needs to raise an army...

"Hold on, you can't expect me to help with all that, I'm just a radio host—"

"Excccellent! Massss communication! You'll be able to coordinate commands between my airships—we had to use sssemaphore, can you believe it—and announce my proclamations to the nation—"

"I was actually trying to emphasize how I'm not qualified to assist in global conquest."

Sir Pent's starting to think that, despite having stellar taste in historical figures and an impressive grasp of the occult, this Alastor gentleman is really just another nobody and maybe Sir Pent ought to blow him off and go find someone more interesting to help him out. He's like "Well don't you at least have any interesting hobbies?"

"I... play three instruments?"

"Hmmm."

"I like cooking."

"Uh-huh."

"... And once or twice a year I like to go out and commit murder."

"Ooh. Do you? What kind~?" He can absolutely work with that.

So anyway Sir Pent and Alastor are plotting to take over New Orleans now.

4: If you could make a spin-off of any anime, what would it be?

TBH I ALWAYS WISHED SAILOR MOON HAD A SPIN OFF OF GROWN UP CHIBI USA AND THE AMAZON QUARTET DOIN THEIR THING with helios in the place of tuxedo mask

BC CHIBI MOON WAS ALWAYS ONE OF MY FAVE CHARAS WHEN I WAS A SMOL (AND ALSO NOW) and after reading the manga and realizing that the amazon quartet MY FAVE VILLAINS IN THE SERIES (THEYRE CIRCUS GIRLS!!!)

I definitely can get a sense of what you're saying, and can completely appreciate you not shipping batjokes! What I'm about to say is more just in regards to John as a character. While he has a predisposition to be intrigued by violence and killing, that is not necessarily his first choice. He actively tries to suppress those urges until he was backed into a corner or felt in intense emotional distress/betrayed/etc... he had no memories before akrham (cont)

So his first experience of living was in an unhealthy environment of the asylum at that time (one that will hopefully be remedied) and when he got out, he met a lot of people who immediately took advantage of his desire for friendship and vulnerabilities to get things out of him. Not to mention, whether it was Harley or some other factor, he stopped taking his medication which also didn't help the situation. John, with Bruce or anyone else, I find has the potential to be (cont. again sorry djdj)  

in a healthy and happy relationship, same goes for any other person suffering from mental illness, so long as they get the help they need and their partner is understanding and accommodating when need be! (Again, this isn't meant to convince u of batjokes or anything, as much as I like that! Just some thoughts on John as a whole! I love seeing all your live blogging c:)

I think I agree with your points! john’s story is genuinely very heartbreaking and it’s unfair that so many choices were taken from him given his mental health, situation, etc. he does deserve a healthy and happy relationship.

it’s not just that it would be unsafe for someone to date a person with these violent urges--I don’t think it’s really morally okay to date when the power dynamic is so unbalanced. it wouldn’t be fair to john for him to date someone who was, frankly, using him. john deserves better than people like harley and bruce, who have used him.

I also think that would be feeding into his issues regarding obsessiveness, stalking, etc. he would need to do some more healing first, and given their history, that person he eventually dates couldn’t be bruce (or harley)

If you happen to know, what are the sequence of choices that get the "I can't lose you" line? O: I couldn't figure it out in my playthrough and I didn't see it in any YouTube ones :c

I really don’t know what I did or said for him to say it, John tells me that Harley is going to kill Tiffany if I don’t, blame Catwoman. I think that if you don’t play romantic Selina and get angry at Harley for threatening Tiffany the dialogue changes to that. But TBH I’m not sure I’ve seen a couple of play throughs and I didn’t hear that dialogue...

Fandom drama and hate is just so unnecessary and upsetting. ;n;
