Yes, I have a flex shaft and a dremel and all sorts of accessories for the rotary tools that effortlessly file and smooth metal. But... there's just something I enjoy about filing by hand. I feel like I just took another big step on my journey as a jewelry artist. I fell in love with this chain I saw another artist use and she told me where to buy it. I happily ordered it and was going to use it with a new pendant I made. Reality set in, last night when I looked at the size of the fine chain loops between the bars and realized I wouldn't be able to wirewrap my usual hook and clasp onto the wire. I figured out I'd need to create rings and solder them to the bars. Then I could wirewrap the hook and clasp to those rings. I wasn't sure if my idea would work but I'm happy to say it did! Work in progress. A custom piece that will have a dangling heart with encased ashes, and a locket with a photo remembrance. The pearl is the remembered's birthstone. The amethyst will be lifted by the angels wings. And there will be a small ruby on the back of the heart/case. I have quite a ways to go with this one.
